by the way, though it has nothing to do with my 991, we also bought a 2012 cayenne. i gotta say, that blind side option for the mirrors is a must have on all cars (don't think its even an option on the 991) and the rear camera...both are great options and porsche should add them as must haves. my 991 has the front and rear sensors but that camera on the cayenne is great.

UPDATE: THE CAR IS AT BEV HILLS PORSCHE! so its being aligned and all the electronics/computer stuff reset. ALSO i was incorrect about "remanufactured" that's not what was done. i had misread that. that's what they don't do. every single part was replaced and what i was told is that other than via car fax, a dealer would not know the car had been hit. i was concerned that the "paint meter" test would show a difference but according to the shop everything had to be replaced so it was identical to all the levels and tolerances as when it came off the lot. now i have to wait until mercury ins (the other guy's co) comes out and approves the overages. this fender bender not including what i hope to get from the diminished value claim is already well over 30K - 10K for the 2010 911 cab they gave me to use in the meantime. god, i just hope it is perfect. i've owned the car for 2 months and had it 6 days. 175 miles. after i drive it home like tom cruise in risky business at5 mi an hour on sunset blvd, i'm going to head up pacific coast highway til my *** is sore in the seat!

7 weeks exactly today and tomorrow, i'm finally getting my car back. i don't even remember what the car is like and since i've been driving the loaner 997, i'm sure i'll be shocked. i called beverly hills porsche service and spoke with the service manager as the car was there getting a final check...a second time and final alignment. he said the czar looked perfect. so i'm hoping for the best. mercury ins called today as well, so the diminished value claim is in the works as well. i'll post pix but hopefully there'll be nothing to see other than a perfect 991 blk and tan cab. honestly, i'm almost scared to get it! so strange owning a car for two months and having it only six days. makes me nervous. but hopefully all my anxiety and hesitation will be gone when i see it and make the lovely long awaited drive down sunset blvd to the ocean and home...although i might not stop and just head up the coast to malibu for a nice long outing in my "new" car

oh, eli's (the porsche repair shop) is ordering me clear turn signals to replace the orange ones. apparently all the european cars have clear lenses. i guess as long as the bulbs are orange/red the clear are legal. by the way, i have been told that eli's is the same as sending the car back to germany for repairs. exactly the same standards...all parts brand new, all technicians porsche trained and certified. so hopefully i'm in good shape
