I finally bit the bullet today and put in an order for a 2013 991s. Looks like early Oct delivery.
Being a rabid 993 fan, i didn't think the 997 and 991 would appeal to me but when I drove both, i was very impressed that Porsche had taken the rawness of the 993 and had improved and refined it in these cars. Before driving them both, I was prepared to not like them at all, fearing loss of drivability and feel of steering etc. Boy was i wrong!!!!! The smile on my face after the drives said it all to the sales staff.
I actually really like the design and looks of the 991, especially the rear end, which I personally have found a little wanting in the models since the 993.
Anyway, here's what I ordered:
911 Carrera S
BOSE(R) Audio Package
Premium Package with Adaptive Sport Seats Plus
Dark Blue Metallic
Luxor Beige leather interior
Sunroof in glass
Electric folding exterior mirrors
Wing mirror (lower part) painted
ParkAssist (front and rear)
Deletion of Model Designation
Sport Exhaust System
PASM Sport Suspension
7-speed Manual Transmission
Wheels
20-inch Carrera Classic wheel
Wheel Accessories
Wheel center caps with colored Porsche Crest
Seat belts in Guards Red
Adaptive Sport Seats Plus (18-way)
Interior Leather
Porsche Crest on headrests
SportDesign steering wheel
Now I have to wait patiently until early October to get my new toy.
I sent my build sheet out to 4 dealers this morning asking for best and final offers and they all responded within hours. By 1pm, I was at the dealer with the best bid, paying the deposit etc.
The dealers here in and around Philadelphia were great to work with.

It looks like a great selection! I especially like the 7 speed manual part!
The wait will be very hard though...
Enjoy in good health!

Nice to have lots of competition in the neighborhood. What percentage discount did you get?

The PDK whilst very efficient, did nothing for me...dare I say it lacked "soul" in my opinion. I must admit that I think the Ferrari California system ruined me because after that, everything seems very unexciting.
I have a loaner 991S with PDK, Sport Chrono and Sport Exhaust and the only mode I get any pleasure out of driving it, is in Sport Plus mode with Sport Exhaust on, so I can actually hear my gear changes. The 7 speed manual was way more fun of a drive for me.

My build is very similar(DBM, 7MT, PDCC with SPASM, Carerra Classic Wheels) - I should see mine in about a month. Waiting gets more difficult the closer delivery day comes!
Congrats!

I agree completely regarding the transmission. I just have so much more fun driving a manual trans. I've tried various paddle shift trans including 997.2, panamera and 991 and just can't get into it.
My build is similar as well, but still not finalized and won't be seeing it until nov/dec. not sure how I will last until then. Going Saturday for a longer test drive in a car that has already been broken in.

You will love the 991s. I too was skeptical of the 991 after my 993. But, after over 3000 miles in the 991s MT, I have discovered that the 991 makes the 993 seem like an economy car. I'm glad to see you went with the MT. After over 40k miles in a prior dual clutch car, I grew tired of the automatic gearbox and longed for a three pedal car. That's why my 991s is MT.

You might possibly save me some headache later down the line when I trade my 997.2. Who in the Philly area ended up giving you your best deal? My car was bought new at Winner in Newark, DE and I was very please all the way around. I'd recommend them in a heartbeat.

From what I have been told and have seen for myself on their build site, yes, the glass sunroof does have a sunshade.
