I think it is only on the S.
I had no sound deadening pad on a 78 911 SC and the intake noise combined with the sport exhaust was sweet, except on long trips.
This is quiet by comparison but the 991 still makes good noises as the revs rise.

all models, since all models now have sport mode standard.
i dont like the robust intake sound, so might try clogging it up with a cork and see how it sounds then. i understand why they did it however because windows up i cannot hear my exhaust at all.

Thank you again Iambon for the pics! Follwed the instructions and plugged the symposer intake with some packaging foam.
The result is brilliant, IMO. There is still a difference between Standard and Sport mode, but it is much less pronounced. In Sport, with the car's stock Symposer valve open, there is still a bit of intake noise, but more muted and much better balanced to my taste versus the exhaust noise.
So effectively, the symposer is easily tune:able to your taste. No tools required and zero cost.![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

And also improved by the mod is the killing of the synthetic change between noise levels. (yes I realize it is "real" intake noise piped in, but the valve opening and closing and abruptly altering of the noise has a decidedly engineered "fake" feel to it, IMHO).
Looking back at the thread, I guess I have had the symposer stuffed for two years almost to the day. Loving it.

I just ran outside and plugged up my symposer as well. Thanks to the photos in this thread it was a VERY easy process that took about 2 minutes (with no tools).
Looking forward to hearing the difference when I drive home today.
With the AWE Switchpath installed it doesn't seem like I need any "extra" noise piped in :-p

991 Cabriolet, I plugged he hole behind the rear shelf with a microfiber cloth. It sounded far too muffled and sedate when gassing or lifting. I removed it, now it sounds great again. Think insulation in the rear wheel wells will be far better.
