You guys are probably going to shoot me for this, but a rear view camera is a good/safe thing to have. I love that my cab's roof line now matches the coupe roof line, but it is a nightmare to see out of when backing (top up) and I only trust the proximity sensors so far!

I'd also put a bit more road feel back in the steering and tighten up the suspension just a bit. As it it I'm always in the sport suspension mode - just too soft in comfort mode.

Nice color combo, my dealer had the same color combo (silver with the blue full leather interior) in stock and I was tempted, but the cab top was the same blue and I wasn't crazy about all that blue with the top up, top down is was awesome looking!

Why not just call it the 991? Why does it have to be called a 911? Same true of the 997...just call it by its build. Time for P-car drivers to loosen up about driving a 911. If I drove a 930 I'd call it that. This approach would probably lead to less of the nonsensical comparisons and flaggelation about which car is the truest 911 out there.

Mine is a 911! It says so on the back, right there below the declaration that it is a Porsche, and above my name, rank , serial number, etc etc.

Lewis,if you're talking about us,people on this forum and a few knowledgeable others,I agree. Unfortunately, not everybody knows the Porsche internal code name, but they've all heard about the 911. As a matter of fact,I have seen people calling all Porsches a 911,whether it's a Boxster,Cayman,944 or 928. The only difference they make is when they see a so called ' Porsche SUV or Porsche SEDAN '.

I also agree that they should've kept the traditional handbrake. I do like the design of the tunnel,so maybe they could've moved it to the left of the driver's seat,by the door, just like in the 928?

I agree - IMO the '911' designation should have ended with the 993. Up until that point, many parts and dimensions were still interchangeable between 1960s models. The 996, being entirely new, should have simply been called the Carrera. It should have been a sturdy enough bridge for the marketing folks. Besides, the transition to names from numbers had already begun with the demise of the 928 and 968, and introduction of the Boxster.

I think holding on to the 911 nomenclature is a disservice to the modern car that the 991 has become, as well as the air-cooled cars.

Keep the emergency brake handle on manual cars.
Moved window controls to center console.
Fixed the rear tail lights and not have them so small and indented.
Remove the rear red reflectors from the bottom side of the car.
Stayed with 19" rims, stay with 5 lug wheels
Made the base model 400hp and the S model with power package
Integrated more electronic functions into a touch screen rather then have so many buttons on center console. Keep emergency type buttons though like windows in case touch screen dies.
More options settings for PSM to control intervention limits and integrated into touch screen.
More options settings for AWD to control intervention limits, characteristics and integrated into touch screen.
Bare Bones light weight sport seat option that hold you in to the seat. No airbags in seat or 18 function memory seats.

From what I understand the rear bumper red reflectors are only mandatory in the US,they don't have them in Europe.

Floppy Paddles as Standard you mean? As opposed to the Push Buttons on the Multifunction steering wheels?

Also, I know folks who would still like to have the multifunction whee> but with the Floppy Paddles as an option.

Note that the US and ROW rear bumper caps are different - and both have reflectors down low in slightly different positions. Reflectors are mandatory both here and in Europe, but they do not need to be separate from the taillights, as Porsche has done with the 991.

How about RSR suspension geometry on the 997 platform.
2500lbs curb weight
factory integrated roll cage
quick release air bags, nav and a/c system
800 hp from 5000rpm to 10,000 rpm
conventional four-way damper coil over
cabin adjustable sways
driver programmable traction, stability, abs
Guard OEM LSD
Movit rotors
Stop Tech calipers
heads up display with data acquisition on everything from pedal pressure to suspension position
no fuss warranty coverage for track

What?
