I went from a 997 MT C2 to a 991 MT C2. From my experience, yes, the 991 is a smoother ride, but in my opinion it is a nice improvement over the 997. I felt the same way went I moved from a 996 to a 997. You are experiencing the evolution of the 911. I believe that the new 911 is now a luxurious (first) sports (second) car but I for one prefer the 991 MT C2 over the 997.
