Cabriolet top up or down in garage

Actually happened to me... Not in the Porsche, but in the BMW Z4 I had before that. I noticed spiderwebs across the entire windscreen. I removed them, but they came back, the spider worked hard to get new spiderwebs up whenever I cleaned them away. Some time later, I found the poor fellow lying dead on the dashboard. I guess he didn't catch much food in those webs...
Anyway... I agree with you all: top up when in the garage! Not just to keep the spiders away, but to keep the top in good condition!

I used to keep it down in my Vette; after 5 years, mild creases, but the convenience of coming home at night with it down and leaving it down on my way to work the next morning was worth it. I had to put the top up at work.
If I had put it up in the garage, I probably would not have taken it down to go to work in the morning, and I also generally didn't bother to put it down on the way home for my 5-10 minute drive. I found I was much more likely to put it down when I knew I'd leave it down to go back in the am. Same thing with my 335i; now, unfortunately, I leave it outside, and therefore rarely put it down anymore.
Bottom line for ME anyway was that I enjoyed the car a lot more when I left it down in the garage.

I have a Spyder and a short commute, so I get it...but with 981/991 roofs completely motorized operating up to 30+ mph, that is really no longer an excuse...

I use the 24h rule. If I'm going to drive it w/i 24 hours and the weather forecast looks promising for more top down driving and the top is already down, I leave it down. If "no" to any of those 3 questions, than it stays or goes up! The new top design has less "creases" issues than previous 911 cabs too. The dust, bugs/critters has never been an issue for me.
