First I want to thank Hendrick Porsche for getting the car from the port (4/30/2012) to the dealer (5/02/2012) in less than three days. I was going out of the country the following week and wasn’t going to be real happy about the car sitting around for a couple of weeks at the dealer. It arrived Wednesday evening at 7:00 and my salesman sent me a text and pictures within 10 minutes (complete with all the wrapping). They delivered the car Friday morning and my wife and I left town for a four day weekend and put 900 miles on the car and tried hard to stay off the interstates. Great weekend and learned a lot about the car. This is my first 911 so there were some things to get used to. My general impression is that it is a great car. It is what I have been waiting for from Porsche for over ten years. I have tried in the past to buy Porsches but always came away with an M car or AMG. What some like about the 997.1 and .2 just wasn’t for me. This is a daily driver and I will put 10-12K a year on it for 4 years. My opinion so far is that this car will be a very comfortable daily driver and if I press a couple of buttons the personality really changes. I still haven’t gotten in to it as I have only put 1,200 miles on it. Things I really like about the car:

1. Very happy with my color choice and interior. Ordered the car before I saw a cab and so was a little hesitant to get very crazy with color. As it turns out I am very pleased with the way it looks even if it is somewhat conservative.
2. Turn-in. This is my first Porsche and turn-in is just fantastic. I haven’t pushed it beyond 85-90 percent but it is much different and better than Ms and AMGs. In fact, I like the electric steering vs the older design which I always felt would wear on a daily driver.
3. Top. I am coming out of a Mercedes hardtop/convertible and this looks better, works better, and seems to be as quiet and more rattle free. No real wind noise either. The windscreen is also great and this was one of those issues that kept me out of 911s in the past.
4. The Bose isn’t too bad and for me a pretty good value. Much better than the Harman Kardon in the MB.
5. Love the wheels. That may have been one of the tougher option decisions, but I really like the look with the Platinum Silver.
6. The PDK is interesting. Glad I got it but I find myself using the manual setting and shifting most of the time. Even in Sport it shifts up too soon for me and doesn’t shift down to first on rolling stops (please no comments on my driving).
7. Sport mode seems to be where the car feels best for me. I can feel the suspension firm up in Sport Plus but I don’t feel the need for that in normal spirited driving. I know it will be nice to have when I can push the car a little and then it will be nice to dial it back to Sport.

Sorry for the long post but as I said earlier this is my first Porsche and this new 991 is really just a great car. Given that I ordered it without driving the cab version it has turned out to be better than I expected.

For those still waiting this is the timing of my car.

It's certifiably a stunner. Your build is amazing, but I swear the older steering wouldn't beat you up!
