Jdsc,
the 23rd was probably your build completion date. So you might make the boat this week. I have the schedule into April, but it looks like this line doesn't have a boat to San Diego till a month later.. ??? Congrats on the birth of your car though, I'll light up a cigar for you... |
Hopefully it made the boat but if not, I am reasonably confident Porsche uses other ships for their transport. I'll see if the dealer has any updates later this week.
And, congrats to you too! Cigar is lit. |
Got a message from the dealer that my car was on board the ship on the 28th. I have to assume that it is on the Grand Venus due into San Diego on April 26th. On the VW Logistics schedule sheet it shows it as being a non-stopper however ship tracker shows it going into Southampton on Friday the 30th. Probably to drop off some right hand drive vehicles before heading to the colonies......the wait continues. Anyone else on the same ship?

Update from dealer this morning, mine was put in the production on 29 March. Anyone know how long does it take to finish? The system show the planned completion date is 06 April.

Shiptracker has my ship, and car, leaving Southampton today and the next destination is Cristobal, on the
Atlantic side of the Panama Canal, arriving on April 13th..... Is it my imagination, or is time standing still? |
jdsc,
Time feels like it's crawling. I was hoping to be on the Seven Seas Highway that departed on Friday, except my dealer still shows "awaiting vessel". Don't know if computers need to be updated or she missed the boat. :banghead: |
I would bet your car is on the Seven Seas Highway. What is your vin#? Mine is 121951 and I'm 90% sure it is on the Grand Venus. If your's is close to mine with the same completion date of the 23rd, and my car made it to Emden in time to leave on the 28th, I'm sure your's did too in time to make a 30th departure.
Look on the bright side. By the time I get my car you will have had yours for a couple of weeks already!!! In fact you might get your's before mine even arrives at the the Panama Canal. The price we pay to live on the West Coast. In any case, a month from now we should both be wearing huge grins and enjoying the hell out of our new cars. |
Time is standing still...
Ordered: 1/28/12
Build Completion date: 3/7/12 On Vessel: 3/16/12 In Port (Rhode Island) : 3/27/12 On Persons (Cleveland, OH): ?????? |
jdsc,
My VIN is 121976 (25 cars away from yours) ... so my build may have completed after the 23rd. Will wait for the dealer update. I do feel your pain about being on the West coast. But you do get the nicer weather...

FWIW on the shipping lines discussion, my 911 Cab and my friend's coupe both came into San Diego on NYK Lines freighters, his on the Aphrodite Leader and mine on the Harmony Leader.
Your dealer should be able to tell you the name of the ship that your car is on. For me the wait just became excruciating. Harmony Leader cleared the Panama Canal yesterday, so it's just a few more days up the coast to San Diego... |
Appears there are mysterious delays on 991s to the UK right now.
Hearing reports of 100 or so sitting on the port in Germany (including mine) for the past 2 or so weeks. No explanation given, with speculation of quality control checks. Painful waiting game, though should be worth the wait. |

Looks like we may have twins! But, they will be on different ships. I'm in Northern California. So, my baby is going through San Diego. If I am lucky, it went out on the Grand Venus on the 27th arriving one month later on April 26th. But, that is cutting it close. My dealer told me to get the cigars out as the car was built on Friday the 23rd and gave me the vin #. Does that mean it was completed on that date, or is that the build date, with completion sometime after? Also, asked this question above, does anyone know when the cars show up on the dealer's inventory page? I've seen and talked to dealers about specific cars shown in their inventory, and have been told that the car is still on the boat, in the port awaiting release, or on the truck. Thanks Rijowysock for posting the shipping schedule. Much appreciated. Any chance you have April's schedule also? |
