Default Got my new 991 this weekend!

Hello everyone. I look foward to joining this community. I have owned a variety of exotic cars over the years, several before the recession, lost everything, and took 3.5 years to recover . . . phew! But I was able to get into a new 991. I am going with the storm trooper theme. I got white with black interior, and am going to tint the windows as much as legally permiited in SoCal. I will post pix when done.

I went into the dealers this weekend set on getting a deal on a 2011 or 2012 997, but couldn't find what I wanted and then test drove the 991. I was "sold"!!

To me, it's two cars in one. When I want a grand touring experience (all sport buttons off), it's as much a grand touring car as my formerly-owned 2008 Maserati Granturismo (this was a selling point for my wife!). But when I put it in Sport Plus and hit the shocks, it drives just like my formerly-owned 2003 360 Modena and 2006 Gallardo, but better - the PDK in my 991 is light years ahead, in my opinion, of the F1 in the 360 and eGear in the old Gallardo.

I am just so nutso happy, I can't stand it.

I am already seeing issues I will want to discuss and share . . . like how to clean the metal in the interior, any fit and finish issues (I already found one, an improperly-screwed-in front wheel well) . . . and I'm sure I'll find more (just got it yesterday).

I attend Super Car Sunday at the Topanga Mall twice a month, so look for me and say hello and let's go for a drive!

Hey, I saw all the requests for pix. It's raining, so I went into the garage and snapped a few. I was able to post a few, but didn't realize they would come out so HUGE. I will re-size the pix and re-attach later. Really, though, I need to get the car out of this garage into the sunlight. But now it is pouring where I live, so that will have to wait. I want to take several pix befor I put on the window tinting and several after, to really see the difference.

I re-sized the pix. If these are better I will try to delete the first set.

I bet "everything" is a relative term!
Single automated clutch transmissions are pretty undriveable in auto mode, the PDK can be as good as a regular automatic.

Yes, good point. I hope I didn't offend. To be more precise, I lost all my life savings, and replaced it with an equal amount of debt. But I didn't lose my house.

I agree with PDK. Interesting observation: if you putter around town in Sport Plus mode the down**** from 2nd to 1st as you come to a stop sign or red light is herky-jerky, just like my single clutch cars from old were. But when I turn off all lights, Sport, Sport Plus, and shocks, it's as smooth around town as regular auto. That's why I love this car, turn off all lights to putter around town, and hit Sport Plus and shocks when I get into the canyons, on the freeway, etc. Just a marvelous bi-polar personality.

Back to reserching how to post pix.

Are the lug bolts on your wheels black anodized? I ask because I saw a white 991 at the local dealer and I noticed that the lug bolts on that car were black anodized bolts.

Really can't see how you offended anyone... those that are, need to take their meds.

Losing it all may be relative but I think we can all agree that when someone uses this descriptive term it was life (style) altering...

It's great to see individuals whom have the conviction and resolve to build over and do it in convincing fashion... with a brand new 991 !!!

Power to you!
Enjoy the hell out of that beauty!
