Disappointed - No Emotion
Saw three 991s, all S, lime gold (corrected), agate gray, platinum silver (corrected), none lowered, in the flesh last week. I am excited about the car's performance but was disappointed that for me, there was no wow factor in terms of the looks of the car. I know this is totally subjective but I have been seriously considering a purchase so this was a let down. Will still test drive the manual when it becomes available but my old 993 with its 17 inch cup wheels still puts a smile on my face every time I see it and this is after 10 years of ownership.

I saw two at the dealer today and I think it looks much better in person than in pictures. The overall look is very cohesive, modern but yet classic. It also doesn't look any bigger than the 997 in person. As always, Porsche has pulled off a nice evolutionary change to the 911. I love the pronounced rear flares, it is reminiscent of the 993 C2S rear flares. Very nice overall.
Having said that I wasn't nearly as impressed with the interior. Both interiors were black and honestly I didn't think either looked that great. I really like the painted center consoles from 987/997 and this really set them apart from any other cars, that is gone with the 981/991. Now they look like any other interior. The new interiors are much less sport and much more luxury. I guess the GT versions will hopefully be much simpler inside.

Well, I think the shape of your 993 is hard to improve upon. I saw several 991s and am not fond of the Agate Grey, which is too dreary. My Seal Grey is pretty bland, but seems to have more visual presence than the Agate.
I agree with Marine Blue that the rear fenders seem more pronounced than in the 997 Carreras, and more like the C4S cars in that respect. I'm looking forward to seeing the wide-bodied 991s to see how changed they are.
I wasn't blown away by the interior, but did notice how the windshield was further away; my 997 is more definitely more intimate. Whether that's good or bad, who knows, but overall the 991 looks great. To me, though, it's noticeably bigger. Again, bad or good?
I have to admit that I must be getting older; it's the first time I saw a new car and felt the wheel size might be too big! For some reason, those 20s seemed large on the Agate Grey car I saw at the dealership today.
Here are some crappy iPhone shots:

The car is amazing. I drove a PDK (which, as an old guy, I hate, of course) and it was... Brilliant. Not saying for sure I could do it, but the wife says YES. Absolutely.
I have had 4 911s; none newer than a '98 C2S and this car is pretty impressive. I have driven a GT3, GTS and Turbo S and I would choose the 991 over all three those. Full disclosure, the Turbo S was just too powerful for my aged frame, however. It was scary fast.
And yes, I would guess Lime Gold. Love to see one!

I"m really confused on this new Porsche..... I'm beginning to think that I made the correct move by buying the 997.2S a few years ago. I bought a nicely optioned coupe for just under 100 K window sticker...
79K after discount...
For the same optioned car in this 991 I"m looking at over 115K and without a sunroof. The 997 is holding it's value very nicely. All I was hearing was how the 997's value was gonna tank when the 991 hit the streets. The 991 is a pretty car but not the heart stopper the 997 was/is.
Bottom line is that I'm very, very satisfied with what I have and although I'll probably end up buying a 991 down the road (no pun) there is nothing urgent about making the purchase and when I do buy it it will be a slightly used car.

You probably saw platinum silver and lime gold, otherwise these would be the first PTS cars I've heard of - I never heard of your car's iris blue - is it darker than aqua, which I think is just a little too light?
Color is a very personal choice. I just got out of a meteor gray Audi which I thought was a decent gray at first but is really the dullest I've seen, especially in Audi's "pearl coat", not metallic finish. Because of that I'm done with gray for now and I wouldn't want agate with it's brownish tones either - and who would order an anthracite brown Porsche?

I saw that to and became aroused and then reality set in, no way in hell a Mint Green 991 shows - not just yet

Id drive the 991 20,000 miles a year. The engine note on the "S" is diabolical. Why anyone would need more than 400hp in this platform is beyond me -- except perhaps if you are a track junkie.
The new Carreras are faster than most of the past turbos. Wow.
