Don't you guys get better deals on jap cars than euro cars there? Is it viable to import cars from Japan without the ridiculous taxation. Loads of scoobys over there. If this were the case I'd probably find a nice modded nsx in japan and bring it over and have a cheap Miata as a DD. No P car but what the heck if it costs 2/3 times what it should I'm not sure it's worth it

yep, lot's of jap cars here, grey market and otherwise.
i owned a miata about 20 years ago; was a great car, but i felt vulnerable in it as i was young and wild, and plenty of trucks and suv's here with dumb drivers.
the 911 is most probably the least depreciative car on the aussie market.
still pretty expensive, i.e., 996 gt3 is still between $100k - $130k. double the price than it is in the u.s.
