Wordsmith, I have always found your posts to be very well crafted, making your name quite apt. I bought a new '09 C2S cab with PDK in the spring of '09. I loved ever thing about that car but the noise in the cockpit. This was my dd and the car I hoped to do some touring in since I was recently retired. I found the level of noise to be almost comical on certain road surfaces. At 60+ mph on concrete you not only couldn't hear the radio, but you had to damn near yell to have a conversation. It was the only reason I got rid of the car. My 991 S Cab is almost as quiet as my A6. Noise just isn't an issue, ever.

I think you will find that plugging in your phone yields a vastly better sound over the compressed BT connection. Try it.
I've plugged a 4 gig USB drive in that is filled with music. It's played on the standard PCM system. Sounds good to me. There's about 400 songs on there

I had it in my original build, but after talking to the sales man, I had pretty much built my car 98% for performance, so I deleted it. Plus with the PSE I would just drown it out.
And I listen to either sports talk or news while driving long distance (or comedy) I have had 3 CDs in my last 2 911s. So on me its probably a waste of money. I would have liked to have it but I dont think its worth the price difference since I enjoy the sound of the motor so much more
AND I ORDERED NO SUNROOF HURRAY!!!!!

I see. Cabs. I had the 997.2 PDK C4S Cab. I'm not really comparing apples at all, come to think of it, because my other 997's were/are an RS and a couple of GT3's. The RS is insanely loud in the cabin. The GT3's, I thought, were very civilized and easy to drive a couple of hours to the track, especially compared to the 996 GT3, which was just a bit too harsh on the kidneys.

The 997.2 Cab was "comically" loud at speed -- wind noise, inadequate seals, and road noise. Still a marvelous all-rounder -- we ran many 200+ mile family trips in it with two kids in the back and ample luggage. In a "glass half full" -- I liked the drive without having to listen to the kids and their iPad games. : ) Glass less so full, it was a bit maddening when you put the roof up and it was still too loud for a normal conversation. That's why I was hoping the 991 Cab would be a hard top, and why I'm waiting to see how the Targa flips its lid.

I'm a huge DS fan, though it is rare that I see them any more. When I was filling up at a local gas station that we don't typically frequent, I spotted a DS in one of the repair bays and had a chat with the owner about it. Aside from the DS on "The Mentalist", the last one I saw before that was on South Beach 8/9 years ago.
