Default Porsche warranty 2 years?

In Dubai the standard warranty on a new porsche is 2 years with unlimited mileage. In the US the warranty offered by the same manufacturer is 4 years!

Any one know the reason for this difference?
Others brands here do offer longer warranties of 3 yrs or even 5 years in some cases.

I don't know the "why" behind the differences.

However, the Euro cars also come with 2 year warranty, but IIRC, Euro owners can buy additional Porsche warranty coverage from the dealers. We can not do that in the U.S. We can buy used cars from Porsche dealers with CPO warranty, which adds an additional 2 years/50,000 miles to the remaining factory warranty.

Competition! Back in the '90 the US domestic car manufacturers were pushing longer term warranties to help sell their shoddy cars, and the Euro dealers demanded and eventually got four years out of their manufacturers.
I bought a '99 Passat for my wife and at about 20k miles but 25 months the ECU fried (a common issue with those cars) and was shocked the car had no warranty and forced to pay over $500 for the repair. That would have been my last purchase of a new car with only a 2 year warranty!

Default Warranty

I own a 2012 carrera s
I extremely close to voiding my warranty
Should I pay the 6000$ to extend it or am I just wasting my money?

Warranty Policy is usually set by a company's marketing department, not engineering or quality. It has little to do with engineering aspects of the vehicle. The US is the most competitive auto market in the world, and as a result American consumers feel the most entitled.

CPO warranty is 6 years/100K miles from the date of original delivery.

No offense intended, but people in the Middle East have a reputation for flogging their cars like a rented camel.

We feel entitled because we're in a competitive market? Odd.

Send me the $6,000. I'll warranty your car. My legal team will send you documents.

In Canada we get the 4 year warranty and can buy 2 additional years. Cost is about $3,600 for the two additional years. If you buy the additional within 1 year of delivery then no inspection/fee. After the 1 year there is an inspection and fee of something in the $500 range.
