Default Exhaust Tips

Man, I think I am going to retrofit the regular Carrera exhaust tips to my S. I just like the big oval finishers a lot more than the quad tips on the S:

This:

Looks better than this:

Interesting. I, however, prefer the quad tips.

I prefer the quad tips as well ... but wish for a LARGER barrels. These sorta get lost in the rear end IMO.

They both look good.. you wanna change 'em, that's up to you. You might want to check the exhaust header diameter before you make the swap. As you probably know, the diameter of the 997 Carrera and Carrera S pipes are different.

I own a base 997 Carrera; I actually like my base Carrera exhaust tips.

For me, take all the logo crap off the rear deck and leave the quad tips on
Then, those that know know you're driving an S!

I'm just talking about changing the tip and nothing more. But now I am looking at the car from underneath and it might be harder than I originally thought:

Yeah, it's got PSE and looking under the car I can see why it has to have the quad tips now.

I love the look of the Oval pipes ... this kinda stinks for me because I am most likely going with the Base Carrera and was thinking of going with the PSE but than my car will look like a wannabe 'S' which is not my intention.

order without PSE, save 3k and have local shop do a "gundo hack" and it does the EXACT SAME thing as PSE, just always on (no baffle on/off)

thats my plan...

wannabe "S" would be doing red brakes... i think thats what people notice over exhaust/etc

The pic is from Edmunds Inside Line. They do a great job giving detail pics with the car on the lift and the wheels off. Here are a bunch more:

I wish I had mine already!

Holy crap, I just realized Porsche changed to a close caliper so no super fast brake pad changes. Now I have to go find if the PCCB is the same.

Non PSE quad tips are now an option for the base model, They are prefered mostly because are associated with the next "more desirable" or more expensive model.
Said that, carrera big oval pipes look the best, they flow with the rear bumper way better than the twins, they look meaner and classier imo.
I wish the ovals were an option for the S.

I was always under the impression that ticking the PSE bring along the nicer joined twin-tailpipes which Porsche show in their catalogue. Is this not the case?

Excerpt from page 38 of the UK 991 catalogue (next to a photo of the pipes):
"A selectable twin-tube sports exhaust system featuring distinctive polished stainless-steel tailpipes is available as an option. Activated by a button, it produces an even more intensive sports car sound."
