like the autoweek review, the comment about steering feel is a little worrying:
"We hesitate to call it numb, but it's far from the granular, feelsome feedback we've experienced elsewhere — even in other 911s. Effort, too, is on the light side."

Do you think that if some of the PTV, active roll control and such are pared out that the steering feel will improve? Otherwise, pretty glowing reviews! Encouraging.

i think those who want performance and excellent driving feedback will have to wait unitl mid 2012 when 991 gt3 will be introduced.
i think it is a smart move porsche does - they will put more and more electronics into street cars to make 'regular' drivers better and safer. those who know how to drive of course will not like it.
i just hope gt3 car will not have most of this crap. if it will - well, then 997.2 gt3 rs will become even more expensive on a used car market.

There's an embedded video on this page. Watch the yellow car from 2:40 onwards. The cornering is amazing. Looks like PDDC could be a game changer.

I'll be waiting for the Turbo, no GTs for me as I am not interested in driving a manual. Perhaps they'll offer GTs w/pdk this time around. I won't be surprised if they do.
My question, now that my order has locked is, should I have gotten PDDC? The reviews so far say that it is very noticeable making corners feel like straight line driving. Will I miss this option or perhaps am I lucky to be without it?

I saw them getting a speeding ticket in the yellow one on my way home from work yesterday evening....at the State Street & 101 North bound on-ramp... I think they maybe merged a little too aggressively for CHP's liking- wished I could have stopped and taken a picture! Although it's not the last time a 991 will be pulled over for sure...

The key for you is, your build is locked in. My advice: don't torture yourself over what you should or shouldn't have ordered (although I've been where you at).

Agree w/ Mike. It's truly a game changer in the Cayenne which has a much higher center of gravity. Night and day difference in the twisting roads. Not sure if it would be something I would lose sleep over when it comes to a 911. You will have no issues carving corners during those spirited drives with your 991. What is amazing is the fact that the Cayenne can almost match the 911 due to it's PDCC/PTV dynamics.

I think from here and other forums the consensus is that for cayennes and panameras PDCC is a great option to have.
I am interested to know if 911 owners will miss not having it? Could it possibly make cornering too boring and not fun?
