Just saw it myself. The 911 looks great, but does anyone else think the rear resembles the last gen Mitsubishi Eclipse?

He is small (5'7") ... and light (143lbs) ... having watched him race in the 997 Hybrid I'd say most of his weight is below the belt ..

As far as the sound is concerned, I think if y'all review the video, you'll hear both cars depending on where the shot is being taken from (inside the Cayman, outside the Cayman, inside the 991 ... etc.) the 991 is louder and more 'raspy' than the Cayman R but there aren't any takes from behind the Cayman either ...

And Panameras look like Corvettes from the front.

It also is wider, has variable extension, and provides more downforce. Ugly is subjective and in the eye of the beholder (I happen to disagree with your criticism BTW, however TEHO), but superior function is hard to argue with. It's not like the wings on the GT3 cars are pretty but they do the job, which is the whole point, AFAIC.

What variable extension? you mean it can open at different stages providing different level of downforce? That would be interesting.

I wasn't commenting whether or not it's functional, but it's definitely ugly and different than ANY old wing on a Porsche. I am sure IF they tried, they COULD HAVE designed it to have more downforce AND to look better. Although I agree beauty is in the eye of the beholder, a proper industrtial design always looks better than the poor designed ones to ALL, just look at Apple products, both functional and beautiful.

Yes, that's what I've read.

I know you weren't commenting on functionality, but as a counterpoint to your complaint about form, I was. I'm just guessing now, but I doubt that Porsche set out to design an ugly aerodynamic aid. It far more likely that either they were constrained by functional requirements, or they thought the design looked pretty good; maybe both. If the latter, I agree; obviously you don't. No point in arguing that one. As for Apple products, I love 'em, but they don't have to create downforce on the back of a 190 mph Porsche. If they did, they might look funkier too.

I remember Road and Track saying the new 1964 911 looked like a "shopping cart" ..... nothing ever changes except the date.
