I like everything about it except the lower part of the rear bumper. I would like to see a Cabriolet version.

Yeah, my dislikes are very minor. Not sure about that little flare at the base of the rear decklid. The interior is a pretty big departure however. Very Panamera-like. Not the simple and austere set up we are used to.

I think it's pretty badass, especially from the front ...
Not so crazy about the interior, either, but it's not much of a departure from the 997. Have to see it in person to judge the tail.

Bigger, fatter, uglier. Just like the consumers who will purchase it. A great GT car for the rich masses.
Did Chris Bangle design that rearend? Doesn't work for me.

"Have you ever found yourself frothing at the fingertips while explaining why someone doesn't deserve to use an iPhone because of their deeply flawed sense of aesthetics? Have you been the type to declare that those who don't use Android are cylons who are under mind control from Cupertino? Or are you Peter Bright, turning up your nose at all of us while you wax on about the unappreciated genius of the Windows 7 Phone?
You may think you're defending your favorite platform because it's just that good. But, according to a recently published study out of the University of Illinois, you may instead be defending yourself because you view criticisms of your favorite brand as a threat to your self image. The study, which will be published in the next issue of the Journal of Consumer Psychology, examines the strength of consumer-brand relationships, concluding that those who have more knowledge of and experience with a brand are more personally impacted by incidents of brand "failure."

Quit talking about me! Oh, except for the "rich" part. Got the rest covered. I may actually get one and reluctantly let my PY go. My wife is worried about us driving a 15+ year old car on longish trips. I'm trying to decide between a GTS and a new Carrera S. Not sure I like the new interior, though.

Finally the 993 has been beaten in the looks department.
The 991 is just perfect. Can't wait to get mine. Red with black interior and black center wheels.

To me the new 991 looks terrific, much more muscular and sinewy than the 997. Definitely the best looking 911 since the 993 (which I think is still the pinnacle of 911s in the looks dept). The interior is a big improvement over the 997... much cleaner and more upscale-looking than the 997.
Probably the least appealing angle is from the rear...it has a slightly Panamer-ish look (a bit too much "junk in the trunk"). Although the car is bigger in every dimension (not good!!), it is supposed to be lighter in weight than the 997.
Wonder if the 991 will have any serious first year reliability problems that about every new-generation 911 seems to have? Valve guides, main seals... who knows...?

I must admit that the 991's proportions look quite good (the best since the 993), but there are a few things that bug me:
1. Can they just line up the DRL with the bumper openings? They look really odd from some camera angles.
2. Lose the 911 logo (and maybe even the Porsche letters) in the back. It looks too busy. And who's going to confuse it with a Cayman?
3. Too many creases and lines in the rear.
