i wish the rear light were slighty larger.
i sure hope the roof opens and slides instead of just popping up like the Audi A series.
An my biggest rant is w/ the lack of attention to protect the front radiators from debris. PORSCHE please get this right. Put some sort of QUICK RELASE grill/mesh in front so we can get all the crap out!!!

Tail lights will take some getting used to - very narrow by past Carrera standards.
Front light array seems needlessly 'over styled' to me. Porsche has been slowly moving down the road of oddly shaped lights. The 991 fronts just continue that path. It just makes the design more 'dated' in my opinion.
And I agree on the radiator protection! My GTS, with its huge openings, is vacuuming up road crap like a Dyson. Can't Porsche come up with a solution ala the GT cars? Where's the mesh???
(I've attached the 6Speed images.)

The back line and lights look unnaturally low. Takes away from the shoulders and awesome big butt look. Just does not look like it quite fits. I am sure I will say the same about the next one.

i think thats intentional- to have the hips sloping downward into the lites.
It looks like they hired an Audi lights designer.
I dont like how the rear lites are recessed . I prefer it to be flush.
It seems like the P designers Like big butts and they can not lie.
Perhaps some side scoops like the GT's can address this.
The mesh helps a lot, but still does stop the small stuff from coming in. In fact w/ the mesh it makes it more difficult to remove all that krap. Just ask the GT guys. The solution is a quick release mesh that can easily be removed.

I don't really understand the lack of love by some folks. A lot of nit-picking over what are, externally at least, fairly minor details. It still looks like a 911! and not that different from a 997.2. What did we expect?

Since I don't own a 997 I'll give my unbiased opinion.
It looks like a natural progression with very minor changes which is a good thing really since the 997 is beautiful. If you look at the 911 design changes over the past few decades using this approach makes alot of sense, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
I think what we aren't seeing in these pictures is how much bigger this new 911 is. I think the designers spent a great deal of time working on the design so that it has the correct proportions but with larger dimensions everywhere. When we see the 991 side by side with a 997 the changes will be very obvious.
