The shorthand of referring to the 11 Sept 2001 terror attacks as "9/11" reflects the use of the "middle endian" (month-day) time format in the US. A time format that is only used in 6 or so countries.
Given this, I would expect Porsche to continue to downplay the use of 911 -or potentially retire it- in the US and Canada, but prefer to continue its usage elsewhere.
Notably, 9 November 1989 - 9/11/89 in little endian (day-month) - was the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Although the traditional shape is generally retained, the 991 is looking less and less like a 911 to me. It's more "Audi-ish" to my eyes.

A sunroof is optional, not standard, in most other countries.
If sunroofs are not your thing (and they are not my thing either) then simply get any 996/997 GT3 or GT3RS.

Judging by spyshots, it looks like there's an optional glass roof for the Carrera models.
However, I think this option will lead to the elimination of the Targa models.
this might be a mandatory US option because almost every single U.S spec mule testing seems to have this roof.

Longer, lower, wider, heavier, more powerful has happened to every major update since the Series 1.
This seems far less dramatic visually (and thus less disburbing) than the moves between '73-74, '89-'90, '94-95, '98-99, and certainly '04-05 and beyond. It is growing on me, much the way all the others had to grow on me a bit before I was in my happy spot again with the new model. This, too, will become my ideal, eventually, just like the current 997.2.

Except for the heavier part. It's rumored to be some 20kg lighter than a comparable 997.2

911 the model is way older than the event. SO why should P change it? Will they change their Corp HQ phone # as well?
at the rate wheel diameters are increasing, we s/b at 24's in about 10yrs. Geez. I knew I s/h opened up a wheel repair biz!

The new car is 56mm longer, and 11mm shorter than the 997. At the rear the wide body models are now 66mm wider. To put that into perspective, that's two rulers and 6mm. Now that's wide!
