Well i dont know how accurate that picture is but youd think they could do somthing a little different style wise for a new model.

Lighter, more power, upgraded interior; sounds pretty good. I'm not too worried about the 4" wheelbase increase. The Cayman/Boxster are already 2.6 inches longer in wheelbase than the Carrera and they don't seem give away anything in the handling department. Granted, they are mid-engine, but I'm betting Porsche will find a way to tweak the chassis in the 911 to balance the 4" gain. "Marginally longer". Wonder how much longer? Anyway, interesting post. Thanks.

Here is basically the same article in Automobile magazine online. However they insist on a seven speed manual transmission as a spin off from the PDK. Thats the first I have heard of that one. Aslo is rumored to look more Panamerish inside.

Stop/start for the engine? Who wants that, hopefully it can be optioned off. And who wants a 7 speed manual? Radar cruise control - means you can't use a radar detector in the car - hopefully that is optional.

At least the car in the photo has side view mirrors.

Still no new pictures of the rear. Porsche made a considerable effort to obscure the rears of its test "mules." There have been several quite different speculative renderings of what is underneath their fabric framing. The front is less changed and less controversial. Ditto the side view.

On both the Panamera and Cayenne the standard stop/start feature can be disabled with a switch. In fact, I believe off is the default. Carrera will certainly be the same.

i know it's EU regulation, but the front looks very bulky and high, like recent BMWs 7 & 5 series. This will probably be an amazing new Porsche, but one that no longer keeps the 911 design trademarks. And that european regulation is nonsense, because I believe it has to do with safety and pedestrians, but how many pedestrians are being hit by Ferraris or Porsches or Renaults? no, people get killed while talking over cell phones while driving or by driving drunk.

Not wanting to be hit by a car any day soon. But if had a choice hit me with the low front end car. Maybe it will just be a glancing blow. Let's see Porsche or Freightliner. I will take my chances with Porsche any day.

On the Autocar website, www.autocar.co.uk where I've also just read all these details, they mention wheel arches expanded to take 20' rims. When will this madness end? German roads are often like a billiard table but on UK roads I sometimes feel like I'm in Morocco (a very cold wintry wet Morocco) and my spine can only take so much punishment.

Tbh I reckon a lot of this article is speculation too (and easy speculation at that: 30hp improvement - check, longer wheelbase - check, evolutionary styling - check). None of the other UK mags is running a story on this today so it wouldn't appear to be generated by an official Porsche press release.

All I can say is if this front-end is close to final product, it's the ugliest front we've had since 996! Other specs are pretty much as was speculated. I just hope all of those extra electronics crap is optional (very likely). For instance I still like my regular side mirrors instead of cameras.

+1.

I very much doubt it though, as many buyers want drilled for the looks, best we can hope is to provide it as an option!
