Aim them using the 6 mm hex to set cutoff height and you’re done. There’s no coding required if you put in a used module with the same equipment/car/part # - at least there wasn’t on my 2013 C2S when I swapped headlights with the same from another car.
I don’t know for certain if you buy a new one if that has to be coded btw but when I was looking into this 2 years ago, I’m pretty sure that the advice I got was that CAN bus only checks that the same lighting components are present for your factory options (so if you’re shaping from PDLS to PDLS+ or LED, yes, that would need some sort of PIWIS intervention).

there is a nonzero chance that the VIN is coded to the module and it will not work as a means of theft protection.
if that is the case, you will need proof of your legal purchase and to take it in to a dealership for coding.
How sure are you about that? When I swapped out headlights w/ new modules the lights worked but threw a code. The code was not for theft protection but more for the modules options not matching up with the car. You can code the module to your cars specifications using a Piwis tool and the codes will not show up any more.

not very!
did you swap out from a used car from a wrecker/junkyard? or did you buy from somewhere like suncoast?

First time i've ever heard that happen. people swap headlights all the time. There's a whole aftermarket headlight thread somewhere on here.
I installed used OEM headlights from a .2 on my .1 and never saw any codes. Even after rewiring the harness to make the .2 four-point LED's to work.
