Default Wheel width question

Hi all, I’m currently planning to go with a new aftermarket set up on my wheels. I’ve done this before and modeled my set up to mirror the popular Apex setup of 20x9&11.5. This is for my narrow body 991.2
I feel like my tires (Contis) look a bit stretched and for this reason, as well as to save weight, I am thinking of going down to the OEM set up in the front of 8.5 and decreasing the rear width to 11. I would move to a lower ET to compensate narrowing of the wheels.
Does anyone see an issue with this? I don’t have plans to use anything other than the OEM width tires of 245/305.

thanks!

so long as it's within reasonable margins of the OE setup I see no issues.

my concerns grow when people start meaningfully adjusting the track width. I just don't know how that interacts with the traction control and rear wheel steering.

Are the Continentals you are referring to OEM tires or just OEM sizes? The reason I am asking is the OEM tires run big and more like a 255 and 315.

I ran 20x9 and 20x12 on my narrow body 991.2 with RAS on the OEM Pirelli tires without issues.

I see no reason to go narrower.

the Continentals are OEM size but not original equipment - they’re the DW 06 - as many have said, they’re great. I just like the idea of saving a bit more weight and having a more square side wall YMMV

If you’re going just for looks and not performance, and you don’t like the way the tires sit on the 1/2” wider front, then I see nothing wrong with your plan to keep the OEM size front wheel (8.5”) with properly adjusted offset to compensate.

I have a 2016 club coupe with 11.5 width rear wheels and Bridgestone all seasons. Tires are definitely stretched compared to the n spec summer tires. Originally noticed an uneven transition at the rear during high g force turns (snap steer?). Lowering the tire pressure helped but the experience leaves me thinking these tires are a little too narrow for 11.5 inch wheels. Friend has the same year 991.1 but an S model with the same tires but and 11.0 inch wide rims and he didn’t notice this behavior.
