Default 991 Alarm Siren Replacement

The alarm siren on my 991.1 2012 died, so as others have suggested on here I replaced it with a generic VW part 1K0951605C (the original was 1K8951605B).

With the new part when I start the engine the immobiliser kicks in and the engine cuts out and gives a fault code P0513-Incorrect immobiliser code.

if I disconnect the new alarm siren the the car starts and doesn’t cut out.

I have tried two new alarm sirens and they both give the same identical issues.

Has anyone experienced anything similar and resolved it?

The original problem with the old alarm was that the alarms would go off intermittently which I believe is a symptom of the old internal battery no longer holding charge.

I bought one (605F) from AliExpress and no issues. First time I am hearing of engine cutting off when replacing siren.

I don't remember but it was original, so assuming it was 605B.

I bought 2, the first one did not work (did not chirp after install), but have had no issues with the second one I purchased.

I think I'll try a new model 1K0951605F siren and see if that resolves the issue. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007413489598.html?

There is a difference between 1) an aftermarket component that is honestly sold as an aftermarket component, and 2) an aftermarket component presenting itself inaccurately to be the original component.

That listing = a counterfeit component. It’s not an aftermarket component. It’s a counterfeit product. It says made in Italy, when it is not. It’s made in China and says made in Italy.. It ships from China. It would make no sense at that price point for them to bulk order these components from Italy, have them warehoused in China, then ship them to the US to you for $14 bucks. Not possible. If they are doing that, I would not be shocked that the software and hardware inside doesn’t work properly either... .

To each his own but I wouldn’t buy it. If it was “made in China” and had another Chinese brand name on it, I’d try it -- but when they are deliberately trying to be deceptive -- nah.

Food for thought.

Perhaps there are others on Aliexpress that are actual aftermarket parts.

The link brings you to the wiring harness and not the actual siren. If you click over to the actual siren (the second small pic) you will see that the siren is $45.67. Hopefully it works, but if not, it is returnable/refundable.

This arrived yesterday and appears to be working fine. I've driven the car for about 30 minutes with a few engine starts and no issues yet, so it appears that the first two alarms I bought were either not working correctly (most likely) or not compatible.

Great! Thanks for follow-up.

Still weird about engine cutting off.
