It's pressing dust and dirt into the paint as you put it on or remove it, as well as any sort of jostling while it's on the car, such as from people/cars going by or air movement from fans, wind, etc.. This scratches the paint. Do it often enough and your paint reflection looks like a million spiderwebs in direct light.
Cleaned/detailed, fresh oil change, pump tires to near sidewall max., anti-pest (mouse) measures, fill with non-ethanol gas (if available in your area … pure gas dot org). As mentioned, do not “just start it and let it idle for a couple minutes” … terrible for engines (covered on a couple of the PCA webinars that are available on YouTube … I know it’s in the “fuel and fuel additives” one).

Wash the car put cover on carefully, don't touch it. I don't buy that a quality cover will cause scratches or swirls.
I have one of those ultrasonic rodent repellers on garage, idk if it makes difference. I've also read that cotton ***** soaked in peppermint extract / oil placed in an old Tupperware container with a few holes in the car or frunk is a good repellant too.

unfortunately, the professional detailing community disagrees.
on dark paint I would never recommend or consider using a car cover of any type. white, silver, or similar isn't as big of a deal, since it hides that damage very well.
Thanks. I know they don't like Irish Spring soap. Might put a tub of that under the car.
LOL, this aint gonna do jack. You'll need to wrap it up to make them avoid you. Fingers cross they don't cross path. Hopefully they aren't running rampant in your garage which is quite unlikely they do unless it's an extremely low traffic garage. https://www.2cents.my/2021/12/21/pro...-plastic-bags/

I've always stored my car at my Indy service building . Heated with trickle charger. He's gone so now in an indoor heated condo garage so can't use charger. How long will battery last? Fuel stabilzer and cover....anything else?
why can’t you use your charger in the “heated condo garage?”
FYI, the latest issue of "excellence" magazine has a tech note on page 28 about rodent proofing a car using fresh dryer sheets, along with mint, and a product called Victor Scent-Away.
