Does my PCM function properly? No “model” splash screen, only crest
Description in the title - but new 991.1 owner and I never get the “Carrera GTS” model splash screen. Pretty sure I’ve never seen it. I will get the Porsche crest.
Thanks - that was open and shut. Just kept seeing videos and photos and all where people have a GT3 or Carrera splash and thought I was missing something.
I have seen both (‘15 991.1 GTS), but I am not sure there is rhyme or reason to when I have seen one or the other.
I won’t swear to it, but I may have seen the crest when starting the car with my seat belt unlatched, vs. the GTS screen if starting when latched? I will try that later on and report back. All I can swear to is having seen both.

Welp, I had to make a grocery run, so I started the car with the belt unlatched. I saw the crest for only a few seconds, then got the GTS splash screen. Surely that must be what I have seen before.
Turned the car off, latched the belt, started the car…no crest, only the GTS splash screen.
When I exited the market, I repeated the steps but no crest, only the GTS screen.
Every so often, the PCM cold-boots itself. The rest of the time it starts up from a standby- or sleep-like mode. When you see the Porsche crest, that's when it's doing a cold-boot cycle. Random, and apparently entirely normal.

All that said, at this point, I got nuthin’. :-)

In my 16 991.1 GTS never seen the GTS screen. I too tried the belts on and off.
I only get crest or nothing.
I’m not really losing sleep over it but found it weird.
Only thing that’s in this car is Apex, like a LoJack, the dealer put on so perhaps that’s interfering with sleep/not sleeping. But that doesn’t make sense either because I’m only getting the crest… so maybe my car is just super super sleepy….
