Default Battery tender feedback

I have a 2014 Base Carrera which I use the cigarette adapter in the center console to plug it in. Car has been on charger (Batter Tender Jr)for a few days and I noticed a VERY slight high pitched sound while walking past it in the garage. It was very slight and had to concentrate to hear it. My wife alerted my to it while in garage and I initially couldn't hear it. I leave car locked in garage but windows down. I open the door unplugged charger and replugged in passenger footwell. Noise seems to have gone. I have had the car 8 or 9 years and have used this setup without issue

That's what I do if I plug it in except I run it under the closed door. I do this only a time of two in the heart of the winter if I know I won't drive it for several weeks. 2015 with 63K miles and original battery and using an old Porsche tender that's about 256 years old. I use a basic Deltran one for my Z8. Both are very, very basic and work great.

i'm guessing the consensus here will be that you should retire that charger and upgrade.

They're pretty inexpensive.

Do you charge from console or passenger footwell. Would it matter

I use the 12v socket in the ashtray of the center console in front of the armrest. No noises. No issues with charging. If you're getting a strange noise and you can isolate it to the charger, then just get a new one. There are plenty of inexpensive options. CTECK and NOCO are some of the more popular ones, possibly a bit overpriced, but still good. CTEK is good enough where Porsche rebrands them and sells them under the Porsche label. That gives me comfort and I don't mind spending a little extra for that.

I use the cigarette lighter plug. I don't think it matters which one you use. The center console one is easy access if you have the smoker's package.

I use a CTEK which comes with 3 adapter types. I use the quick disconnect and wired directly to the battery and I ran the plug out of the right side access hole. When not in use it tucks neatly into it.
