Default Cup holders not staying in the place

When I opened my dash door my cupholders were in place as they should had been. When I pushed on the cupholders in the appropriate place they opened as designed. When I went to push the cupholders back in place the cupholders would not stay in the hold position within the dash. Any idea how to fix this?

Thanks
Lawrence

When i use the cup holder I have to spread the holder open farther to fit larger diameter cups. When I push the cup holder back into the dashboard I have squeeze the cup holder back to the smaller diameter first before pushing the arm back in. Otherwise the cup holder just pops back out. Hope this helps.

Another quirk is that the silver panel cover only likes to be pushed exactly in the center on those lines, else it does not open or close properly. It is very precise on how it operates. Clearly the Porsche way!

Yep, I have the holders fully compressed and still won’t stay in place.

the one thing i do notice is that for them to stay recessed, you need to push them in from the little cup icon only. If you push them in from the "arm" they will not stay in their cavity.

Agree, that is what has always worked for me.

I just checked out my car. Yep. To push the cup holders back it only works when you give it a firm press on the cup icon. Else if you push anywhere else, it just pops back out.

I fixed my problem, but it took me opening up the glove box and playing with the small catch wire from underneath the cupholder cassette. Had to do this in order for the cupholders to stay in place. So really not fixed. I tried to push from the icons on my cupholders with no luck. I will try again.
My guess is lack of use contributed to this problem. The car, 2016 GTS manual coupe has 12k miles on it.

when i had the PPI done on my car (C2 with 29K on it), the shop said the driver-side cupholder was stuck in its place, so kinda the opposite problem. They said they could remove all the dash pieces to get in there to fix/replace, but it was going to be like $1200 or something crazy.

Needless to say I didn't have them do it.

When I got the car from them, I just pulled at it with a little harbor freight angled pick and got it unstuck. Works fine since.

If by "BS" you mean Brain Surgery, you would be correct. Operating these things is like brain surgery. If you don't use the cup holder arms the exact way Porsche intended, they do not work correctly......
