991.2 12v & USB Ports Always on or Switched??
I’ve been reading and hearing conflicting information, and would like to poll the audience to get to the bottom of it… does the 12v port turn off after sometime after car is shut down, or does it always stay on? What about the center console and glove box USB ports?
TIA!
TIA!

My 2012 991.1 shuts down after ~10 minutes unless something live is plugged into the port. IE: maintainer plugged into glovebox port, port stays hot others not in use go to sleep.

Interesting. I’m trying to gauge whether, if I keep my phone charger plugged in (to the 12v passenger port) or my wireless CarPlay box connected (to the armrest USB port), they will draw current continuously

991.2 here. I have tested the usb in the center console with my wireless CarPlay Ottobox and it goes off at around 10 minutes. It has a blue led on it. I placed where I could see from outside the car and snuck up (ergo, approached without key in my pocket) and it had gone out.
i have also found that the 12v socket (not usb) in passenger floor well stays on if I have a trickle charger attached… my approach there is turn key on after connecting (not start) and then turn key back off so that the trickle can do its work for as long as I leave it in that state.
What does suck is getting back in car after walking away … before the wireless carplay device loses power, I have to manually unplug and replug the wireless device or disconnect from that device in my iPhone to get my CarPlay reestablished.
Not sure if this holds true for 991.1 …. YMMV!

I tested mine and did it shut off the center arm rest after some time, it reinitialized by me opening the door without my key. Ill check more carefully this time to see how long it stays powered up. After only opening the door with no key it was shut off in 10 minutes. It seemed like after running the car it stayed on longer.
