Picked one up at a nearby Costco yesterday for $169 with free 3 year replacement.
Do note that the Costco Interstate batteries are different than normal Interstate batteries and can only be covered at a Costco. I've only heard anecdotal evidence from a buddy who runs a shop, but they are apparently of lesser quality. That or the people who buy them abuse them, who knows -- he gets people trying to warranty them out all the time at his shop after 1-2 years and he can't do anything about it. They've gotta go to Costco.
I am sure this will get a ton of negative comments, but I figured I would take one for the team and try one of these Chinese branded LiPo4 Group 48 battery. Seems to have a good spec for my car with 60AH 1100cca. Considering 80% of Lithium batteries are made in China I figured I would roll the dice at 1.5x the cost of a quality AGM. It’s only been a few days but my car has not caught on fire and cranks up quick. Only time will tell, but it fits great and initial impressions are positive. Weighs about 15lbs and $289

with electronics, I have had some great luck with chinese branded products recently. Especially if the price isn’t “too cheap”. It’s hard to argue that china has the most expertise on the planet in manufacturing electronics and batteries for consumer electronics.
Also to my knowledge the name brand lithium batteries source some of their batteries from china.
def sorta nervous as I couldn’t find any reviews on this company or their products. But the fit and finish, quality of battery enclosure, shipping packaging etc all felt top quality. Obviously you can’t judge a book by its cover on this stuff. But I’ll keep the forum updated over time.
Goes to show what these batteries can be sold for, provided of course they are as reliable as a quality AGM.
At 1.5 times the price, I would hope to get 15 years (or more) life out of it based on the lead acid battery life that I get.

I paid 300 for this Lithium Battery, you can get a quality AGM for around 200ish. These Lithium Batts, in theory should last 2x as long. My AGM's have only lasted 5ish years until they started to degrade. I know some people have gone longer, but I also drive my car a lot 108k miles, not sure if that makes a difference?

I would think driving a lot would be a lot better than letting the car sit long times (plugged in or not). I have the original battery on my ten year old, 62K+ mile 991.1.

in my 10 years and 108 miles I have gone through 3 batteries. To be fair, I used Interstate's battery tool and ended up getting a NON AGM battery, that one died in 2-3 years. My original lasted about 4 years, then 2 years on a non AGM and 4-5 years on my last H8 AGM.
I also run a full sound system in my car with two sizeable external amplifiers, and maybe the higher heat in LA?
I dunno, whatever the reason they only last 4-5 years, which I am OK with.
When I can get 10 years out of my battery which is what it happens to be right now and if it costs me $200, then I would expect to get 15 years out of a battery at $300.

BTW I have had two conventional lead acid batteries last 14 years and 16 years; in my 152,000 mile car and in another 43,000 mile car.
But at $300, that is a heck of a lot better than those lithium battery costing $1050. I hope you get good service out of it. Let us know in 8 years.

But even if I get 4/5 years I am ok with paying an extra $100 for the lighter weight and ease of swapping.

No difference in my case: Toyota, Honda, Acura, Porsche, some are used all year and even parked without any maintainer and the Porsche is seasonal. Being stuck in traffic or very short drives might not help? We have far higher battery demands in the winter during starts, plus it get hot being parked outside...so it all evens out. The Toyota and Honda had a factory Panasonic battery...they were great.
