Default Adding Coolant to 991.1

I just completed my 80.000 mile service. Went fine.

However, I neglected to secure the coolant cap and lost maybe a cup when I parked the car on overflow after testing. Scared the heck out of me.

My coolant dipstick is at the min level. Car runs fine, no high temps or lights.

Can I simply add a cup to the reservoir to bring it between min and max? The operating manual seems to indicate it's OK to do this, but the Pelican Parts site DYI says never add in this manner as it is a vacuum system. Have no experience with that.

I tried searching but there was nothing definitive.

Appreciate any help.

Regards,

Drew

Add a cup of distilled water. If you need much more than that you should mix 50/50 with the correct coolant. Info should be in your manual.

Where are you located?

I'd just source the correct coolant. Porsche, VW or a good local auto part store should be able to help you out.

Yes unlikely to have created sizable air pockets, just add distilled water or coolant. If you get any issues with temp you can worry about vaccum fill.

I'm in Tuscaloosa, AL

Advanced Autopart has PentosinPentofrost SF (G12+) OAT concentrate. Is that compatible?

My car is a 2014 model.

Adding coolant to top things off will in no way introduce air, nor do you need to use the vacuum method. That's why the reservoir cap is there ! Just pour in !

If you're refilling the entire system, or have lost a large amount of coolant, etc.. yes, vacuum fill is the way.

Look it up on their web site. I know for a FACT that Valvoline ZEREX G40 is, but you should check it out on their site as well. Originally BASF GLYSANTIN.
Approval code TL 774-G.

Thanks for the help folks.

The local O'Riley's did carry Valvoline Zerex G40 and that is what I topped up with.

So far so good.
