JBV1 has learned all the routes I drive and has silenced the false alarms on its own or with my flagging. So both the gen 1 and gen 2 are quite quiet. Meaning, any K band gets my attention and any Ka band means it is a cop.
The police love to catch speeders from behind, and the rear antenna and arrow are very helpful. The biggest downside is that I pick them up MILES away from behind meaning you are detecting them for minutes before they show up.
I regularly see other cars with radar detectors getting caught speeding when the v1 gives more than ample notice.

OMG Yes!!!
Still running old Escort CI9500's in my slower weekend cars. Not the latest design but they work for my area.
For the Porsche, invested in a custom installed Escort CI Max 360 three years ago. Display is built into the rear view mirror. Plus added Stinger Laser jammer with 4 pairs of fiberoptic sensors across the nose. Controls for both are custom installed in the ashtray. With the cover closed it's 100% stealth. Have been "saved" to many times to keep track. Custom stealth installation is awesome as it's always there and turns on when the car is started.
Took the Porsche on a 6000 mile cross country trip last fall. Spent most of the trip cruising in the upper 80's to low 90's. Escort did it's job multiple times and traveled with no ticket stress
Many people ask what are the best mods to get for your Porsche. My best two go fast mods are the radar/ laser detector and the DCS Controller.

Does anyone have an opinion about the Uniden vs V1? I had a V1 15+ years ago until it got stolen and I never replaced it. My new to me 911 is pre-hardwired to the rearview mirror, so I might as well get one but don't know anything about the current state of radars. Looking for few false alerts and I don't want to be bothered with running an app on my phone every time I drive (aside from waze which I use on road trips).
Go to the Vortex Radar website and YouTube pages … best comparison/review dude
V1 doesn’t have the option to save and lockout known false alarms based on GPS.

on Monday I drove from TN to FL and I was surprised to see cops using K band in FL but it was pretty common here. Also I'm super impressed with the detection distance of my R8, it's like 2 miles in best case (cop in median aiming at my direction).
you do have to learn the false signals from certain other vehicles in the road but it keeps you sharp 😂
Glad I bought mine for sure and they've improved a lot since my last one in the early 90s

Keep in mind, no RD is perfect. Even with the R7, I’ve gotten 2 tickets in 2 yrs because cops will keep their radars off and then flick on their radar at the last second ,( especially if they see a 911 coming down the road). By then, it’s too late. Your detector goes off informing you you’re going to get a ticket. Last fall I got a ticket while passing a slowpoke on the interstate. As I crested the hill my detector went off at the cop approaching from the opposite direction. When he pulled me over the first thing he said was, “Those detectors are worthless. I locked onto you way before you knew I was coming”.
Without a clear view ahead or at least 1 “scout car” in front I keep it 10 over or less. But having said that, I have been saved enough times so that I keep using the R7, and will probably upgrade at some point to the R8.

True, no detector is foolproof and LEOs know how to evade/trick. It is a cat and mouse game. This is why you need multiple anti-LEO devices, for example, dedicated laser protection (ALP) and crowd sourcing (WAZE, JBV1) in addition to radar.

I just got my 992 this week. With the R7, am I able to get a BlendMount and hardwire the detector to the rear view mirror? No additional wiring or prep needed?
