991.1 GTS Wheel Fitment | Considering HRE
I recently acquired a really special 2016 GTS and will be adding some HRE wheels. In the process of doing so, I have learned that this particular model has a unique wheel size and offset from the factory. More so, it is different than what comes with the 991.2 cars. With that said, I am having a hard time coming up with the proper offset for this car. So far this is what I know:
Factory Centerlock Wheels (verified by removing the wheels):
Front: 20x9 ET51
Rear: 20x11.5 ET48
My goal is to correct the rear offset and give this car an "OEM +" stance while improving performance (significantly less rotational mass) while running the factory tire size (meaning I have to retain an 11.5" wide rear wheel). Haven't dove into changing the front wheel setup but curious to see what others have done and confirmed works well.
This intended to be a a performance and aesthetic upgrade.
Does anyone have insight on what offset works well on a 991.1 wide-body car such as the GTS or C4S? Again, this will be different than a narrow body, Turbo, and GT3.

- The 305/30R20 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S max wheel width is 11.5". Other 305's can stretch to accommodate a 12" wide rear wheel, however, I would not be comfortable stretching the PS4s.
- HRE R101LW wheels would require a different tire, 12" rear wheel, and the front offset is significantly different than stock.
- HRE P101SC is my likely choice
- The OEM fitment has the rear tires awkwardly tucked in, however, there isn't a need for a wider tire. This can be corrected with offset and no need for a wider wheel.
- The OEM fitment appears to be ok for the front wheels, at least aesthetically speaking.

Part of the reason people pay the big $ for HRE is because they themselves are experts at fitment and design with their wheels. You can search the forums here for lots of examples, someone will surely chime in with some good offsets, but you really would do well to just call HRE and discuss with their engineers an ideal setup for your car.

We can get you taken care of with the HRE. HRE has their recommended offsets and fitment they provide for your vehicle. If you want to make adjustments that are considered out of range for them, they will charge a fee for it.
Feel free to reach out to us, we can get you recommended fitment and pricing.

I saw your comment about 305 tires on 12" wheels and I did some research into this when replacing the tires on my 991.2 and there is no credible reason for that recommendation. I went to a very highly rated independent shop and they prepare race cars and they said no reason for such a limitation. There even was a statement somewhere by Michelin limited the Pilot Sport 4s 305s to 11.5" but we all know that is not the case.
