Default Boost gauge

Good morning all ,what’s the maximum boost level that you’ll see on a 991.2 base Carrera with a tune and does it have a set limit from the factory?
I saw 15psi so far, but had to let off. I'm curious. Before I saw 12/13.

that's my experience as well. what I don't know (or worry about) is whether or not that 15 psi has been set by the tuner (softronic in my case) or is the physical max of the particular parts involved or both. there has to be some form of safety limit involved so that you don't blow up your engine. since the top boost level has been increased simply by just adjusting the DME I'm thinking that the limit is a function of the tune rather just taking out a hard limit and leaving it infinite. works for me. It could also just be a function of the limit on the display and actually be higher. dunno. I don't have the equipment to test it on the fly and don't need it. my inquiring mind doesn't want to know. your tuner would know. obviously the stock car from the factory has a DME limit installed, the 12-13 psi.

Thanks for the info. It's Softronic tune and I noticed a big difference across the board ! I really like the tune , just what the doc. ordered ,it's like night and day!
I guess I might see 16-17 maybe , perfect conditions who knows.

cheers , 2hot

Factory boost gage on Carrera shows max 1 bar (~15psi). The GTS shows higher stock. Softronic tune with the K03 base turbos I think is max around 18 psi, so the gage will max at 15 psi. From discussion on the board it seems the base and GTS have the same boost sensor, and there is a table or value in the ECU that can be coded so the dash boost gage reads higher. However, I’d like to see that confirmed with a mechanical boost gage, but no one has bothered checking. There is a thread on here with the discussion and some directions on how to code it if you have a PIWIS, but you’d have to search for it, I don’t seem to have the link saved.

There are a few posts on the Thinkdiag Magic thread where people have increased the upper limit of the boost pressure that is shown.

Haven't done it yet, but will when I find out how to do it.

yeah, no big deal too me , just curious . It's part of the learning curve, you have to ask the questions too get the answer. I see the base is 13 psi , S 16 and GTS 18 factory spc.. They say you can over think something ,well you can also over read something too, very easy given all opinions! Cheers
