Mine does the same! Occasionally it will bump in first, then upshift quickly to 2nd. I'd say probably once every 2-3 months if I turn the car on and immediately shift to drive without waiting for it warm up. Both dealer and Indy said it's normal on some cars, no codes thrown, and had the PDK serviced just in case, with no change.

It shifts even better with the fresh fluid. Really made a big difference getting rid of the 9 year old fluid.

I too would like to see more of the higher mileage ones - I changed my fluids and pan/filter at 100k, I'm at 106,300 now and I am very happy I serviced it when I did. Shifting, and general smoothness was very noticeable after the change. I get that the distance sensor can fail at any time and there's likely no easy telltale sign, but my PDK doesn't run like a typical 100k+ mileage car might be expected to. Seems like the distance sensor is a weak point in an otherwise very stout transmission.

I feel that the PDK trans is bulletproof but we, because we're on Rennlist and this is really the only place where one of us would say we have an issue, we tend to see the super rare occurrence of it being talked about here often. I do see manual trans issues & replacements talks here too. In the end, it's just random like any other sensor on the car.

Replaced all PDK/clutch/diff fluids and pan ahead of the 6yr/60K and 12yr/120K maintencane schedules, after tracking a couple of times and in prep of Cobb PDK tune and re-learn.. Plan to change all fluids again every 6 yrs. Fluid change alone, (without PDK tune/relearn) made my car feel fresher than a set of 4 new performance tires 🙃
Smooth gear shifts and the thunks/plates-slamming when switching gears is practically gone even in Spprt+

Experience from other transmissions: with functioning trannys with no leaks/issues, don't get fancy switching from OEM fluids. Switching up viscosity on a fluid may cause those old seals and gaskets to no longer be leak-tight.
