991.1 GTS vs 997.2 GTS - Which one to Keep?
#16
Thanks for all the feedback guys (and gals). I did forget to mention that both 911s are PDK - of course, if it were manual, the 997.2 wins hands down!
I will try and keep all 3 (for reference, I have a 997.2 GT3 on the way) but also realise that you can't have everything so one may need to go......

A 911 is meant to be driven. You enjoy driving the 991 more. What is the decision ?
if you want a driveway trophy, then what is the decision ?
Considering the fact you do not drive either one a lot, sell them both & get something that “really” turns heads if that is important.

You happen to have the same year and model of GTS that I own and with the same mileage. If you do your own wrenching as I do, what I hate about it is not seeing an engine when you lift the engine lid. And the need to take the bumper off to replace engine air filters. The 997 is more basic and hands-on friendly, why I like my 993.
I bought mine in 2018 and while on the Gold Coast at the library, I went to the Porsche Australia site, priced out a new 991.2 with my options except two that they didn't have. The drive away price was $409K. I took a pic of the screen...nuts! That is twice the price of what mine went for to the original owner.

I've had both a currently still have my 2015 991.1 GTS. I like the 991.1 GTS better, but both are great. I think the 991.1 rides better, handles better, sounds better, and performs better. I also think the 991 body style looks a little nicer.

Resurrecting this old thread.....
So I took all of your friendly advice (thanks so much) and decided to keep the 997.2 GTS and sold the 991.1 C4 GTS last month. Probably took a little less $$$ compared to having done it earlier this year, but needed that extra time with it to make sure I did not regret it.
It did not take too long to sell (2 weeks) and I feel that I made the right choice. Since that time, I have done a full paint correction and coating on my 997.2 GTS to really make that Riviera Blue pop and also done the PDF clutch and oil service (long overdue despite the very low miles 19,000km/11,800miles).
I'll always miss the 991.1 GTS as it was an epic car. I sometimes feel some envy to some of you who own it still and I can say it is definitely a special machine. Some pics of the 991.1 GTS from the For Sale advert
