I fully appreciate Porsche marks up their parts, but this price variance is insane. What is the difference between these two plugs? I see absolutely none as they "appear" to be the exact same Bosch plug.
Clearly it cannot work with the blue stripes and lettering. For proper performance, you must NEED those in green and green is obviously much, much more expensive.....
yes those would be legit. Its the other sellers on ebay and U have no idea where those plugs were made(I know but cant disclose:})
Why can't you disclose? On a boat circling Mainland China to avoid paying taxes and using underage labor? Am I getting close?
Avoid Amazon too, lots of fake parts with OEM labels...
Bosch are offering blue ringed aftermarket spark plugs, OEMs are supplied green ringed ones. Porsche AG sells green ringed ones, in a Porsche box. This company enjoys a profit margin of ca. 17 percent on overall sales turnover, by far outstanding among German automotive manufacturers. Mercedes and BMW only achieve half of this profit on sales.
How comes ? Because we are in the luxury segment, where many buyers do not mind paying for high, if not to say, overpriced products. It is alike LMVH (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennesy) of France, or Richemont of Switzerland.
Porsche's mother concern, Volkswagen, only makes a meagre profit around 3 percent on their Volkswagen branded vehicles. Despite the moderate number of cars produced by both, Porsche and Audi together in absolute numbers generate half of the profit of the Volkswagen concern.
BTW, I very much enjoy owning and driving my 991. I consider it a masterpiece of automotive engineering . I do not regret the price I paid for it, and it holds its value much better than other cars.
But I do not buy non-Porsche specific, generic parts for ridiculous prices, often 3 times the price you pay for parts directly marketed by the same OEM suppliers, like Mahle, Mann, Bosch,...
I've always bought the "OEM supplier" designated parts from Pelican (including these Bosch spark plugs), and never been disappointed.
