Coolant Fill 991.2
Curb rubbed my F. Right radiator...it leaked. Replaced it with a CSF? radiator (great product, great U.S. co.-*said the german car buyer :/
Anyway, I successfully emptied and refilled the entire cooling system without vacuum filling. Here was my experience.
Removed F. Bumper, removed lower rad hose and drained 1.75 gallons of coolant then removed radiator. Replaced with new radiator & reinstalled bumper then with coolant cap in rear removed I refilled system from top of the front right rad inlet until it settled, then I'd wait & fill again. Eventually, it was completely full. I proceeded to rear of car and filled the coolant reservoir until overflowing. Then I put cap on, and got car up to temperature & allowed it to cool several times over about 4 hours. When I checked coolant afterwards it was still overflowing so I figured it was time to go for a drive. During the drive the coolant went down slightly and once back home I had to add about 1 or 2 pints of coolant and it was done. I used no vacuum, experienced no overheating, and the whole experience was very simple. Vacuum may be necessary if not refilling the front and the rear of the cooling system like I did, idk. I think filling from the front, at the upper rad inlet/outlet helped me and was the reason the drain & refill went so well. That was my experience. I hope someone finds my experience helpful.
