Faint numbers and needles on dash?
Just came home with this 991.1 Carrera S and find that the numbers and needles on the tach and speedo are difficult to see, especially when wearing sunglasses. Don't recall this on earlier Porsches. Is there a setting for dash instrument illumination?
That big tach should be way more visible, especially its needle, in my opinion.
Otherwise this car is fantastic! (That's my other opinion).
(Just noticed that this post is displaying my now sold 997 - will update soon).

Polarized sunglasses can reduce the brightness of some displays.

I plan to breakout the owner's manual soon, but meanwhile where is that setting to change the brightness?
My vision's generally pretty good, and my sunglasses are non-polarized.

I've never figured out the reason for the non daylight illumination of the tach. Doesn't it exist back through a number of generations? It was suggested in a post on an earlier thread that it's to remind you that your headlights are off when it gets dark. I can't imagine Porsche making that decision and now with the auto light function that's irrelevant. When sunlight reflects off the tach lens at a certain angle it makes the tach impossible to read. So frustrating on a performance car. Too bad it can't be programed to illuminate like the other gauges. Obviously there is the rheostat control to control the brightness of the illuminated gauges on the dash.

You can activate the lights for insturment cluster to be on during the daytime (without having to turn on the light switch) via PIWIS by coding the color of the dials as being "white", I've done this and it helps quite a bit, but the needle does not light up.

Only the tachs on the turbos are backlit not may know this but I have seen this on the Macan, Cayenne, Boxster and Carrera - Turbo versions are backlit and look slightly different thicker white lines I believe
