Default 992 shifter on a 991.2

A friend with a 992 gave me his old shifter, and I put it on my 991.2 and wanted to add some pictures here if anyone is interested to see how it looks. I would not have gotten alcantera but you can't argue with free!

Any one else running a different **** on their 991?

The shifter was one of the first things I changed. I was shocked how flimsy and cheap the stock **** felt.

The stock 991 shifter is really cheap feeling. The 992 **** certainly looks better, but does it also improve upon the feel or does it still feel lightweight and "plasticy" under your hand?

Again, looks great!

Looks great!

The boot looks like a 991.2, did you just replace the ****?

Did it fit without modifcations?

Very interesting! Thank you for sharing. It looks directly plug and play. Can you confirm?

I thought the stock shift **** was great till I tried aftermarket versions. I think the biggest improvement with the aftermarket versions I have (Function First and Black Forest Industries) is the directness of the shift and the solid fitment / removal of any play between the shifter and the shift ****. (e.g. it feels fused - good for feedback / situational awareness)

@WAM Plug and play, takes 15 minutes or so if you watch a couple of videos beforehand.

The boot on the 992 looks different and it appears to be a different shape, the 991.2 boot appears to be the same as what is shown on your car with a 992 ****.

I'm just double checking because I'd like to order the 992 **** and boot and fit BOTH to my 991.2.

I know that the **** and boot come as one, and can be separated.

Here are some pictures from Suncoast Parts.

Boot won’t fit, you’d have to separate the **** and attach to your 991.2 boot unfortunately !

First Function shift **** is solid and weighty. It can also be lowered to improve feel. A very worthwhile install.
