I know there will be a huge difference in opinions but main question I have is based on several reviews I have watched on the 991.2. Whether the Carrera or the Carrera S, the complaint is the tire noise from the interior like maybe Porsche didnt use as much sound deadening on these cars and that has been whether the car has the 19 fronts and 20 rears or larger.
My former 991.1 Cab non-S was fine whether the top was up or down, never noticed nor heard of any roadnoise complaints like I am hearing on the 991.2?

I've had my 17 C2S Cab for about a month and half (and 1800 miles) and I can say that there is no appreciable increase in road noise from any other convertible I've owned. Previously owned a '16 C7 with removable "targa style" top, '17 Camaro SS convertible, and currently own an '16 Audi TT cab.
It's a sports car, with big sticky tires, and a convertible, it's gonna be noisier than a *lot* of other cars.
But it definitely isn't so much worse I'd complain about it.
I never expected it to be as quiet as an Audi A7, that's just silly.
It’s a fact. Tire noise increases with tire age. No difference between the .1 or .2. If you go for a T, then yes there is less sound insulation. You can also add sound insulation in the doors pretty easy if you want. Since you are looking at both, PM me for a technical instruction manual on the .2 that may help your decision. Also search the forums for info such as door cards and water pumps. Good luck!
If you care more about straight-line speed go 991.2. If you care more about sound go 991.1
I bought a new 991.2 gts manual and sold it after 6 months. Now have a 991.1 gts manual and couldnt be happier. Both are great cars and one doesn't sound like a vacuum cleaner....
That should get some people fired up, vacuum cleaner Thanks everyone, helpful and that pretty much covers it for which direction. Speed, sound and one other reliability and maintenance cost. Much appreciated

I have not been in the driver's seat of a 991.2. I will say that I drive my 991.1 GTS in Sport mode most of the time and it is plenty of torque for me if I want it. If I'm in that driving "mode" I simply keep the revs up a little. I should drive a 991.2 for giggles sometime.
Do you know off hand if there is a center muffler delete for the 2016 GTS? I know the 997.2 and 991.1 use the same Sharkwerks or RSR etc, but I don't know if the GTS exhaust is the same?
Do you like rotary phones (cool sound) or iphones. You cannot beat a 991.2 for 500hp with a $1500 tune. A 991.1 will never get there. The torque curve on 991.2 is also exponential better for around town driving.

Yes my 2017 991.2 performance was increased dramatically with a tune as described. All because of the 991.2 turbocharging.
After 140,000 miles on a 991.1 C4S ....then going to a 991.2 C4S with similar options ...... Night and day difference on power delivery and the sport exhaust sounds delightful.
I'm glad all the 991.1 TT models I test drove and tried to negotiate a deal.... fell through.
Considerably more low rev grunt makes for a quicker car
Much improved EPAS programming for better steering
Steering wheel doesn't look dated in 2023
CarPlay support
Much cheaper to get more power out of it
Doesn't get wheezy at altitude
991.1 advantages over 991.2
NA powerband
NA exhaust note
Lower cost
If NA is more important to you than anything else, the 991.1 is the choice. If cost is your chief consideration, 991.1 is the choice. Everything else? Well, the 991.2 is one of the most significant midcycle refreshes in Porsche's history -- market values reflect this.
