installing new oil filter.....do they imprinted #s need to go up or down, does it matter,,youtube guys are showing either

 

I don’t believe there is an up or down. But for the passenger footwell air filter there is. Others will chime in. I believe my car came with print up so I just do that since it makes sense in my head. Best to you!

 

I just had to go back and look at my DIY of first oil change with my car when the previous one was done at the dealer. Upon removing the old filter, I see that the lettering was facing down into engine and so that's how I replaced it. To be honest though, I don't think it makes a difference.

At about 14:00 into this video, you can see that the lettering is facing the opposite end of the cap. Again, the previous oil change was done at dealer and that's how they did it.

 

Doesn't make a difference.

 

2017 C2S: Mine was facing "up" [visible when the filter housing cap was removed and the filter remained in the housing. It was serviced at the dealership. I also don't think it makes any difference.
