Default 991.1 Turbo S vs 991.2 c4s which to buy ?? Need your 2 cents !!

I have narrowed my search down to 2 cars—- one is a 2016 991.1 turbo S (127k) and the other is a 2018 991.2 c4s (114k). Comparable miles on both( below 20k). Which is the best bang for the buck, which will hold its value best, which do you prefer and why. I have driven both, and compared to my last Porsche(euro 930), both are light years away from anything I have previously driven (except for a c8—I can’t get past the angular styling). Please give me your 2 cents as I am currently stuck !!! Thanks in advance…

If it were me I would get the Turbo S. More cachet and assuming equal miles, it should hold its value better.

No question Turbo S.

One is a Carrera forced into "turbo Era" by European Emissions, can be woken up by tune and mods.. Other is the performance benchmark for the Manufacturer, engineered and built without compromise.

the answer is pretty simple

Default Turbo S

For weekend special car, 991.2 if you plan on putting signifigant miles on it or as a daily driver.

The turbo S will have turbo S maitenance cost but what you hold in value will probably mean you break even. Coming from a 930 you will probably be alot safer in either.

I'm a bit confused. Rarely does someone ask whether they should go TTS or 4S. Pretty much everyone will go TTS if they have the means.

But you also state you drove both of them and you're still not sure which you want? 🤔

The only factor for indecision I see is price, unless the Turbo is in a color you don't want? If you can afford the TTS....get the TTS.

Can I ask why you are struggling with this decision? What are the pros and cons for each for you?

Obviously money is a consideration, added maintenance expense for owning a tts vs a lesser 911, depreciation is always a concern for me as I have acquired what wealth I do possess by being overly analytical in my purchase decisions and making a concerted effort to not **** my money away… I fully understand the differences between the two vehicles and obviously recognized the differences when driving both. I’m not going to be tracking the car but regularly engage in spirited driving on the backroads. If I can achieve comparable results with a lesser 911 than a tts and for less money, then in my mind it warrants consideration. But soliciting for some friendly advice/comments from veteran 991 owners never hurt either !

OK well in that case, the 4S may be the smarter choice for you. Newer, more tech, and you can use any extra money to make it your own.

Money isn't always a deciding factor. I was looking at 991.1 and 991.2 turbo S, 992GTS, 992S, and 991.2 GTS, etc. I was looking for performance, which they all bring, but most importantly finding a car you love. Buy the car you know it instantly when you walk up on it. Had a turbo and GT3RS, when you're driving these cars around (outside of a track) you're extremely limited to what you can do. For example, any of the above cars you will still be driving down the road, freeway, etc., with the rest of traffic. Sure, you'll have random moments and early morning drives, but you're not going to be racing around town on public roads. So, I would keep it simple. Just purchase the car that pulls at your heart and enjoy it.

My 2 cents: have a manual 997 turbo and manual 991.1 4S. While the 991 is better in almost everything from technology, comfort, sound… in a way that is not easy to explain, the Turbo remains a superior car. It is somehow special while the 4S is an “ordinary” 911.
Go for the Turbo. We live only once…
