My only guess is that the mounting tabs / attachment points are located in different spots but I’m not sure if anything else. Regardless, you would think that it would be easily modifiable to fit the 991.2, or at least easier than trying to retrofit a wide body skirt onto a narrow body.

I do feel that a lot of times manufactures will say something won't work because they haven't had a chance to actually test it on the exact car. Maybe thats why. But as you said, it should be easy to modify to get it to work if in fact it is not an exact fit.
