scan tool question
I have also used it to find fault codes following installation of an ECU tune that I experienced after a "bad" tank of fuel; which enabled the tune supplier to revise the tune.
I confirm this scan tool can monitor simultaneously the temperatures of the engine oil and those of the PDK clutch and sump, which should be very useful for anyone who chooses to do a DIY PDK oil change. In contrast with my NT500 scan tool specifically loaded with Audi/VW databases, I had to use an infrared temperature measurement device to determine when the oil was at the correct temperature for setting the fluid level after refilling the DCT clutch system on each of a 2011 Audi S4 and a 2015 Porsche Macan S.
This scan tool appears to identify and collect data from a host of modules on my vehicle, 27 in all, and it appears to be able to drill down and provide detailed information for many functions within a given module, including for the engine and the PDK.
But I cannot figure out how to enter and actually save the VIN of my car nor will the device automatically determine the VIN. I have to choose the vehicle [991 series] and then click down through other submenus to identify my car and then proceed with any diagnostic scan.
And if you have not chosen "logging" in the initial setup, you will have to manually walk through all the data you collected from a full scan and enter [save] the data from each module by pushing the appropriate buttons on the tool in each separate module data display.
As with most such scan tools, this one is made in China and although the English language owners manual uses better English than many others I have seen, it's far from complete in providing instructions and guidance on use of the device. I found it very helpful to look on YouTube and find some videos in which other people describe how they have used the tool; these are helpful even if the person making the video is using a different iCarsoft scan tool or on a vehicle other than a Porsche. A man whose YouTube handle is GooveOn has published some videos that I found very helpful, and teaches functions that are definitely not taught by others, e.g. how you can use the tool with a MacBook Pro computer.
The iCarsoft display screen is much better than on the NT500 scan tool for my Audi vehicles for which I paid more about 8 years ago. And data entry is easier because both letters and numbers are in a single table for you to select and enter.
For its price, I am very satisfied with it thus far.
