Default High and low pressure fuel pump upgrades for 991.2 Carrera

Has anyone contemplated using a turbo s fuel pump upgrade for the carrera platform? I’m not a fan of using methanol as an upgrade to fueling as we all know it may lead to catastrophic engine failure. I’m working on running running a custom set of upgraded GTS turbos on my 991.2C2s running E85 and would be happy with mid 600’s to the wheels. This is not a drag car, it would be a weekend/part time vehicle. I know APR is running low 700’s to the wheels however they have stated issues with the low pressure fuel pump being a limiting factor at the upper end of the rev range (they had to short shift during their record 1/4 runs)

I have a 17 C2 with upgraded oem GTS turbos. I’m running the APR stage 3 e85 tune and according them should be making 648 Hp, 594 Ft-lbs. Running mid 10’s in the 1/4 mile with 135mph trap speed on continental all seasons. I just got CR-S tires so will try again for a better time. Hoping to be in the low 10’s. 60-130 time is mid 6’s see below. Not sure what your end goal is but this is plenty of power for me. I do plan on tracking the car later this year but it mainly my daily driver.

@Pakman996-991.2

Hey there, I have a GTS and I am finalizing my custom pump gas tune, and about to start my e85 tune. (I will be able to swap back and forth with my Cobb)

Curious if you have any suggestions, recommendations, gotchas, etc. I have a 600 HP VW Golf R that I have been running flex for years with no issues. I am confident in Ethanol in general and I am not afraid of the myths surrounding the fuel. More interested in car specific items. TIA.

I’ve been running E40 for 4 years solid. No issues at all.

i’ve since up graded my GTS turbo’s to TiAL M800’s.
Even more epic on E40.

I do have E85 tunes, but I don’t run them. I track a lot and running E85 at the track would stress the already iver worked fuel pumps. When someone finally does a plug and play fuel pump up grade, I’ll be happy to run E85 for convenience.

We have someone looking into MoTeC for the 991.2 turbo.
It appears to be in the high 90’s % the same. So we may be able to have him code the last 10% so we can run MoTeC and flex fuel!

Cobb AP and protune is the way to go. I wish I could switch back and forth between 93oct and e85 easily. I drive a lot and it’s easier to run 93oct on longer trips since e85 is not widely available.

The other bigger issue is letting the car sit for over a week or two if you are away. I daily my car but have a trip to South Africa coming up and will have to have my shop switch me back over to 93oct since I’m running APR. it’s a major pain.

The 3rd issue would be over working the fuel pump/injectors. I think APR knows this and purposely kept the e85 on the conservative side so I feel good about it but if your tuner is not careful he could possibly over do it. I only know of two instances of injector failure (both second hand) on a stock and e85 tune.

The last thing to note is cold start issues. I don’t have issues with my APR tune but have heard of other having issues on cold mornings. I haven’t run e85 in the winter so not sure how it will hold up.

I have a COBB AP but would rather have motec so maybe I’ll run the APR tune for now and then spring for motec once @4 Point 0 makes it happen! That would be epic. Flex fuel, full control over everything.
