My car is still hibernating (waaaay too much snow this winter), but I opened the glove box to drop in my registration renewal. When I closed the door, the lock cylinder fell out.
The cylinder uses the same wafer style pins like Porsches going back at least the 1970s, in this case two on one side and one on the other.
With the key inserted, all the wafers sit flush with the cylinder surface.
Based on my experience with vintage Porsche locks, I inserted the cylinder with the key into the latch, and pushed hard. I checked the lock function--that worked. With the key out, I pushed on the cylinder and it snapped in a bit more.
I confirmed that (1) the lock works and (2) the cylinder stays in the latch. Fixed for now.
Potentially silly question... this lock will use the vehicle key (removed from the fob), yes? just making sure there shouldn't be a second key floating around that I'm not aware of...

Hmm, never realized theres a lock on the glove box.
Maybe it’s purpose is to lock it for track days to prevent it from popping open? I dont see how this plastic box lock would stop someone who just broke in your car.
