Default 991 Targa 4S - Parts to inventory ?

The car is a 2015. I have reached the point in my journey that I can see the finish line. This will be the last 911. Knowing my son, he will probably keep the car until it is his last 911. The car is not a daily driver, but certainly not a driveway trophy. I estimate he will get it with about 80K miles. other than wear & tear items, it has been trouble free with the exception of PADMs.

The thought is simply that they will easier to procure now than say 20 years from now. Especially with the direction of Porsche and electric vehicles.

So, the question is what parts would you begin to orde over the next few years?

With all due respect, I don’t thank that makes any sense to do. Even Porsche 356 parts can be procured today and with advances like 3D printing, many parts/things can be reproduced quite easily even if not always inexpensively.

Is Porsche going to supply all the electronic modules, PCM etc? My guess is a totaled care would be a good parts supply for decades if you have storage space. Will need the software to program the electronics. Common stuff, I wouldn’t be concerned about.

I had a daily driver turn into a parts car due to a careless driver. I kept it around for 10 years until the replacement car wore out.

I know, but the ole’ 6P theory applies to this old guy. Not looking to put an engine or PDK in the garage, although that would be nice. Things like a Targa top. After all, I don’t want the Porsche Police ticketing the youngster for driving with the top up !
Fuel pump, oil cooler, radiators without that ridiculous plastic fitting, etc. are a few things that come to mind.
Maybe this is overkill, but appreciate your opinions.

I’ve read that the Feds are about to significantly increase the tail pipe emission standard to the point that new ICEs are unobtainable. Used car demand (and the prices) will go through the roof and people will keep their cars. The business model will keep parts available for the rest of our lifetimes for sure and probably beyond.

Porsche is incredible with their parts support. You can still walk into a dealer and get 356 parts. Porsche makes new parts for the air cooled cars — even the most obscure stuff. You’ve got nothing to worry about. Enjoy.
