Thoughts on this GTS?
Hey,
I'm still figuring out how to decipher Carfax reports. What do you think about the attached report? No service until ~14k miles and then a note about wheel repair. And then changes of ownership across the nation going from CA to AL in the end with very few miles added?
Also, the ad seems to mix up RWD with 4S. In the Carfax, there is mention of a CV Boot repair or replacement. Does that confirm it is a GTS4?
Seems spooky!
Thanks!

It is a GTS RWD- here is the VIN look-up. https://vinanalytics.com/car/WP0AB2A94FS125328/
Nothing seems too crazy with the carfax. The owerhsip changes are tough as Carfax is not the best at recording actual owners and sometimes double counts them when people move cars from county to county or state to state. I noticed a few GTS cars only owned for a short period of time during the COVID time as people waited for new allocations and with it being a more desirable car not surprising to see out of state buyers. On the plus side it was certified when it had 14K miles and had its full 40k service done at that point which shows it should be a healthy car since not much has been added to it since. Also, just because service was not on the car until 14k miles doesn't mean it wanted done. Some Indy shops dont bother reporting to Carfax so it is hard to say.
Is it for sale now in AL? Dealer in CA could have sold it to another dealer and transported it over if so. Can always ask the dealer how they got it.

I'm a stickler about carfax and history reports although at times they don't tell the whole story or can sometime be misleading.
Here's what I don't like about this car based on this report even though others may not be bothered by any of this:
- 3 owners in 3 different states tells me that the people who owned it probably never intended to keep long term and their driving style may reflect that
- If this car is a manual transmission vehicle, I would need to see a DME report for peace of mind.
- 14k miles is a bit longer than I'd like to see a first oil change done on a $150k car.
Otherwise there's nothing too crazy about this report. Might be a good car for the right price. Needs a thorough PPI to be sure.

Love the Build
Sapphire Blue Metallic over black
991.1 C2 GTS RWD WITH MANUAL Trans (Yes!!)
Sport PASM + PDCC
No sunroof
There is nothing bad or alarming about the Carfax, it's not a $2 Million dollar collector car, big deal owners changed hands. Oil change wasnt earlier that One time, a Proper PPI says more about a car than ANY Carfax report ever can
If PPI checks out, DME is clean, Go for it, dont flinch, it will be gone before you know it

Does the car come with any additional service history? Carfax often doesn’t tell the whole story. When I bought my car, the Carfax had no service records, but it came with all service receipts (performed annually, completely up to date) serviced at a major Porsche dealer in FL. I called that dealer before I bought the car and they said they don’t report to Carfax. The Carfax also said 2 owners, when actually it was the one owner originally leasing, then buying the car after the lease. So the Carfax was way off, highlighting the importance of service records with the car.
If there’s no other record of service, I would assume the worst. There is no indication of service for almost 4 years when the major service was performed, the prior ‘service’ just says new tires. This would be a non-starter for me. As we all know, these cars should be serviced annually regardless of mileage. Is it really possible owner 1 bought this car and didn’t know or chose not to service it? Unlikely but there’s uncertainty.
On the possible plus for being certified in 2019, there are many threads on this board about significant issues with certified cars, so that doesn’t guarantee much.
There are too many red flags for my liking so it would be a hard pass, unless there is additional documented service history.

I would not freak over this carfax, have a good PPI done and if you’re really paranoid get oil analyzed. Odds are early service not reported in Wisconsin not all dealers report to carfax. If at a Porsche dealer see what service history they can pull.
looks like a nice build and car, I’d go for it assuming passes PPI

get a PPI, purchase and enjoy
nothing of concern
as far as short-time ownership - I sold a GT4 after 40 miles because I hated it (had a GT3 at the same time and the GT4 was too polished for my liking); bought an M6 once and only owned it a couple months because it was a big fat pig (long, wide and heavy as all hell); just sold a Polestar (after less than a year of ownership) because someone wanted it and I was ambivalent (and waned back int oa p-car)

Carfax doesn't even have all the maintenance records on my 911 and they were all done at the dealer. Carfax is a joke, no guarantee they reported all the wrecks, no guarantee of any accuracy. Always a certified pre owned car, obviously any issues were taken care since it cost the owner nothing. 40K mile service already done. That car appears perfect to me.....

It’s a low mileage 991.1 GTS. It’s a good car. I just bought a 15 GTS cab with 18k miles and I’m in heaven. It’s amazing. Seriously it’ll be ok as long as sand wasn’t poured into the oil inlet

Tried calling the dealer a couple times yesterday and today. Left a message. No response. Turns out the color was a bit of a challenge for some family members so I'm no longer pursuing.
Thanks for the input on the Carfax.

Doesn’t get much better…GTS, slick top, manual. Also appears to be previously PCA member owned.
