Default Who "services" their convertible top mechanism

Dealer recommended top service. I already have a process for waterproofing that I have done before successfully, have not inspected the parts of the top that might need "service". That seems like something a guy like me with limited tools could get done but Im listening

I have no idea what needs to be done, but it’s recommended every two years.

I reckon it's something along the lines of lubricating the moving parts, similar to the glass sun roof mechanism service. Not terribly helpful, I know.

I’ve had it done once a year, dealer lubricates all the joints of the top mechanism. Not super necessary, but peace of mind I guess.

Mine is under CPO. I had some significant squeaks that I claimed and they fixed them all.

yes, I’m the same. The next time I’m in at the dealer (January) for service, I’m going to ask where/how they fix the clinks and clanks.

On my 987, if the top would start to bind, there were these plastic pieces that would break per design. We could actually find them on Amazon. On my 991.2, I really don’t know other than it’s more complex. Sure does work well though.

My top is usually pretty quiet, but if it's been sitting outside on a hot day, it will definitely creak and moan when opening. I tried listening closely and its from the magnesium panels itself rubbing on the inside, not from the joints which are all well lubricated.

I looked pretty deeply on this and there isn't a ton of info on this (actually a lot of conflicting info) regarding servicing the top. Generally a few times a year, clean and treat the top with 303 or Raggtop, clean and lube joints with Krytox, ensure the multiple drain plugs are clear, treat rubber parts with Gummi Pflege.
