991.1S or Cayman GTS 4.0?
Given a similar price range, WWYD? I am driving a 981S currently and love it, but sometimes wish for more oomph.
Have test driven both, enjoy both. The GTS 4.0 I prefer the handling and braking power of a lot, and I could get a new car vs. an 8-10 year old car. Given a roughly $100,000 budget, what would you do? No commuting, just a fun weekend car. Looking for something special with character.

the cayman is an objectively better platform, and the gts 4.0 solves one of the two issues I have with the cayman (the other being AWD).
between the two I'd get the cayman in a heartbeat.

I had the opportunity to drive my friends 2022 718 Spyder a few days ago for a good 50 miles on some great sweeping backroads and I have to say that it is an incredibly handling and road holding curve attacking beast. Just WOW! Not sure what all the differences between the Spyder and the GTSes are, but most likely not very significant in normal or even very spirited driving.

Depends if you’re happy with a Cayman😉 They’re smaller inside, (not by much but are) no rear seats and mid not rear engined.
Im sure you know all that but I missed having a 911 when I had a brief affair with a 718 GT4.
Brilliant cars but I didn’t have a 718 on my wall growing up and that’s significant to me. Objectively it’s definitely the better car though🤔

Cayman IF there are at least a couple of Track days or DE events per year, hands down more fun on the track
If buying for street duty only, I would always take a 911 over a cayman. I have been carpooling my daughter to school for 3 years and I couldnt have done the same in my cayman
Also, for weekend trips with the wife, 911 is a Way better
More room, comfortable when you want it to be
Also, unless you are comparing the Cayman GTS 4,0 to the 991.1 GTS, most other .1 Carreras are at least $25K cheaper. (even the ultra low mileage ones)
My .02 cents

A lot of options for $100k, but between those two I’d take the 718 GTS 4.0. Better objectively in many ways, newer, has warranty, will end up being more collectible/desirable than a basic C2S. If you only need two seats, I personally find a Cayman more usable than many here seem to think. It has a trunk in the front and rear, the 911 only has the frunk. Twice the storage options!

4.0 gts wins on engine/trans/steering , maybe some argument can be made on chassis, but overall is a better sports car. As a car overall 991.1 has it's own appeal no doubt(back seat, classicc 911 shape etc.) considering up keep costs etc I'd go with a gts4.0 unless it's a very special 991.1 like 50th anniv

I recently sold my souped up and suspension modified 2012 991.1 C2S and purchased a 2016 981 Cayman GT4 with Deman 4.5 conversion. This GT4 is more powerful and track focused than my 911, but is far less comfortable as a daily - I won't be using the GT4 that way, while I did daily my 911.
To me thee are very different cars, making the decision easy after considering intended use.
